Hey everyone! 🌟
I’m reaching out because I’m in a bit of a tricky situation at work. It seems that my boss has started to view me more as a threat than a team member. This has led to some roadblocks in my progress, and I’m worried they might even try to lower my title and pay. 🤯 Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening:
- Feeling Undermined: My boss is intentionally blocking my progress.
- No Support System: I don’t have HR to turn to, and the owner isn’t being helpful either.
- Frustration Rising: I’m left wondering how to navigate this mess!
So, what can I do? I really want to maintain my professional growth without escalating tensions. Here are a few ideas I’ve considered:
- Stay Professional: Keep interactions with my boss as respectful as possible, despite the challenges.
- Document Everything: Keep thorough notes of my accomplishments and any conversations that could support my case.
- Seek Allies: Are there other coworkers I can connect with for support? They might offer different perspectives or ways to handle things!
- Think Long-Term: Should I be looking for opportunities elsewhere, or is it worth trying to resolve this internally first?
What do you think? Have you ever faced a similar situation at work? How did you handle it? Any tips or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! Let’s discuss! 💬
To be honest for you, your sanity and career, brush up your CV and start looking.
It doesn’t work out taking on these insecure bullies.
Good luck you’ll find a job you love
If HR and owner don’t care. You should keep earning money from this job while you search for another. Record your accomplishments on your resume and keep moving forward.
Been there. Showed my best for the inspection, all jaws went down, inspector shocked, never seen this in my department. And than quited 😋
Best decision ever
Not to the point of being demoted but at a performance review I brought up that I felt stagnant for the last 3 years in role and pay. To my surprise he said, yep, you could do my job but I’m not going anywhere so neither are you for at least the next 10 years. It was hilarious to me that he was “surprised” I left 3 months later after landing a new job.
Just to cover your butt, anything your boss does to try and discredit you, make sure there’s a paper trail. It becomes a lot harder for him to have actions take without documentation. If you suddenly are demoted ask why and push for documentation. If they can’t provide it then it’s up to you whether to get an employment lawyer for discrimination.
