Hey there, have you ever noticed that a lot of people talk about wanting a revolution but when it comes down to actually doing the work to build and improve society, they seem to disappear? It’s a common phenomenon, but there are ways to combat this and make a real difference.
## Why People Shy Away from the Work
One reason people may not be willing to put in the work for societal change is that it can be daunting and overwhelming. Building a better society is no small task, and it requires dedication, time, and effort. Additionally, some may feel unsure of where to start or how to make a meaningful impact.
## Actionable Steps to Make a Difference
### 1. Start Small
Building a better society doesn’t happen overnight. Start by focusing on small, manageable actions that align with your values. Whether it’s volunteering at a local charity, participating in community clean-ups, or supporting businesses with ethical practices, every little bit helps.
### 2. Educate Yourself
One of the most important steps in creating societal change is educating yourself on the issues at hand. Take the time to research and learn about the root causes of social problems and the ways in which you can be part of the solution.
### 3. Get Involved
Joining forces with like-minded individuals and organizations is a powerful way to make a collective impact. Whether it’s joining a protest, attending town hall meetings, or participating in community events, being actively involved in the conversation is crucial.
### 4. Stay Committed
Building a better society is a marathon, not a sprint. Stay committed to your goals and values, even when the going gets tough. Remember that change takes time, but every effort you make contributes to a larger movement.
## Conclusion
So, next time you hear someone talking about revolution but not doing the work, remember that change starts with individuals like you. By taking actionable steps, educating yourself, getting involved, and staying committed, you can be a part of building a better society for everyone. Let’s work together towards a brighter future! 🌟
A lot of people who want change are afraid of losing their jobs, home, family etc. It’s why you see people being so vocal online but not actually acting on their desire to revolt.
I’d like to change the world…but I don’t know what to do…
Most people that want revolution dont even have a plan if they suceed
A lot of people who want a big radical revolution are accelerationists. They don’t want to improve everyone’s life, they want to equally degrade lives of others and maybe come out on top in such new world order. Basically break shit and hope that that could snatch the biggest pieces left, faster than other people.
There’s not a soul around wishing for a revolt that will enjoy it if it actually happens. Real death and destruction occurs in these things, and no American today was around for the last one or knows anything about what it was like besides their history books.
If we just stop being consumers and paying taxes, that will be revolution enough. We just learn to enjoy free/cheap stuff. Grow our own food, brew our own beer, and grow our own weed. I’m doing all this now. My mental and physical health has never been better.
You forgot that revolutions aren’t started by a single lone ranger. You need a community, a group.
A lot of people I know who would like a sea change are already doing the work of building/improving society. They want a revolution because right now that work is like Sisyphus rolling the boulder up hill.
Why would anybody want to slightly change or slightly improve a society which they believe needs far reaching revolutionary change that is incompatible with the current society? That’s backwards. Feudalism wasn’t reformed into capitalism, nor could it have been. The structures of both are incompatible with each other. Just as capitalism and socialism are irreconcilably hostile towards one another. You can’t reform capitalism and get socialism. And dont toss in that “good mix of both” bs because that’s just you admitting you fundamentally don’t understand the incompatibility issue, or fundamentally don’t understand that welfare programs aren’t socialism.
You can not reform society to have the workers have all the power. Revolution can.
You can’t fix a totaled car.
I disagree with most of this thread. The real reason is that revolution is EXCITING. Drawn out, hard work and dedication over your entire lifetime that might go entirely unnoticed is not fun.
Most people who like cereal don’t try the newest flavors released because the chance of being let down has become a consistent likelihood. “Most” of the time, it’s just the brand trying to increase their market share.
Improving society does not make people money, and far to few of us have the necessary influence or experience to do so. Communes tend to always become political as well, even with good intentions. You need a literal saint to start it and a literal saint to replace them.
Armchair revolutionaries…
Unlike Marquis De Lafayette
Well, revolution (in my country) looks like a bullet on the back of the head.
Being a journalist, an actual good journalist, is a death sentence.
Want to become a cop? You better be corrupt and accept hush money, or you’ll die.
Wanna become a politician and make good, permanent change? Good luck even getting the job without being someone else’s puppet, or dying being elected.
My country needs a mf Batman but without the “no killing” rule. That ain’t me bro.
Im in the process of converting my 17-acre lawn into a native plant food forest. It’s going really well so far, im about 5 years in. Once the property is paid off, im giving it to the local native council to do with as they please while I start the next chapter of my life. Land back, that’s my revolution. Not only am I healing the land, but I’m also passing critical indigenous practices and wisdom onto my family and friends.
There are so many people out there building a better world, working hard towards a more just and free world. Most of that work is invisible unless you are in the thick of it too. Just think about the thousands of people who went with mutual aid groups to New Orleans after the flood.

Not endorsing the dude since I think he has changed a lot over recent years but this is basically what is meant by Jordan Peterson’s “clean your room before you criticize the world”
Im confused, I thought insurrection was bad?
“Everyone wants to be a gangster until it’s time to do gangster shit”
-Abraham Lincoln, probably.
Most people who want a revolution don’t understand sociology or economics.
