Hey everyone, I need some advice and reassurance here! 🆘
So, I’ve been hit with one of those dreaded HR meetings that just screams “doom and gloom”. 👎🏼 My HR representative and manager want to have a sit-down with me, but they’re keeping their cards close to their chest – no hints, no explanations, nada. 😱
Here’s the catch – I’ve only been in this role for two months, and I’ve still got a month left on my probation period. So far, there haven’t been any red flags raised about my performance, and I honestly think I’ve been doing pretty well in meeting my KPIs. 🎯 So why the mystery meeting?
I can’t shake off this sinking feeling that I might be on the chopping block. 😰 I’ve been laid off twice before, and I really don’t want to go through that rollercoaster again. 🎢 The meeting invite just screams “Probation Call”, and the HR rep shut me down when I asked for any hints on what to expect.
Anybody been in a similar situation before? What was the outcome? Any tips or advice on how to handle this nerve-wracking situation? 🤔
Possible solution:
– Prepare for the worst but hope for the best
– Take the time to reflect on your performance and achievements so far
– Mentally prepare yourself for any outcome, including the possibility of finding a new job
Let’s swap stories and insights – your input could really help calm my nerves! 🙏🏼 #Support #CareerAdvice #StayPositive
Yes, 100%.

my bet is performance improvemant plan PIP
After 60 days you are entitled to more benefits in some states so this could be good or bad. If you are doing a good job, why assume the worst?
More than likely you are being let go, PIP’d, or taken off of probation and becoming a regular full-time.
But since it is both manager and HR, odds skew a bit more negative.
I think you are probably being let go. I doubt they would put you on a PIP during a probation period. If someone needed a PIP after only 60 days, I would just let them go. But, the subject of the meeting is interesting. Is it possible that they do regular check-ins during the probation period? Regardless, just email your manager, reference the meeting subject and ask for clarification. If they don’t provide a specific answer, you have your answer. If so, sorry.
keep us updated when you find out.
Did you ask your manager? At our company, we have these calls once a month during probation, just so the manager can tell you if you’re doing okay or if anything is needed to be improved. And HR asks how your probationary period is going, if you have all info and docs – they are more interested on improving the on-boarding process
The last 4 times that happened to me, I was laid off. I’m sorry OP. I hope that’s not your case.
Yes.
You don’t know and can’t control it, so do your best to not worry. (Easier said than done i know!) keeping calm is important because stressing on it can distract from your work at a time when you want only to do your job well.
Two options: PIP or fired.
The ONLY time you ever want to see HR in a meeting with you is in the hiring process, never afterwards.
Just walk in with a brown box. It will cut the tension at least 😂
I’ve got that tomrrow at 0830 too. No title to the meeting either, just HR and Manager. 1 full year, no issues.
Could be a check-in call. Just trying to be positive!!
