Hey folks! 🌟
I need your help. I’m in a bit of a pickle and could really use some opinions. Here’s the scoop: I’m currently working at a company, but I was approached by a recruiter about an amazing opportunity that comes with a solid promotion and a whopping 50% salary increase! Super exciting, right? 🎉
So, I’ve had a few interviews— a phone screen in early August, a virtual interview a couple of weeks ago, and then an in-person interview just this past Tuesday. Honestly, all three interviews felt like a home run! I really connected with the hiring manager and the panelists, and they even gave me a tour of the office. The hiring manager even mentioned that I probably wouldn’t need much convincing to join their team! 😅
Here’s where the anxiety kicks in: During the virtual interview, I learned about another candidate who was at a further stage in the process, as they had an in-person interview the day after mine. Since then, I’ve been left hanging. The hiring manager assured me that they were hoping to wrap things up by the end of the week, but that deadline has come and gone without a word.
Now I can’t shake the feeling that I might be the second choice in all this. 😬 Am I just being dramatic, or should I take this silence as a sign that I need to be more patient?
Let’s break down the feelings that come with this scenario:
- Second Choice Vibes: It’s tough not to feel like you’re second in line when you know there’s another candidate in the running.
- Impatience: The waiting game can feel endless. It’s hard not to overthink everything.
- Ghosting: Not hearing back can feel dismissive, which adds to the stress of the job search.
Possible Solutions?
- Follow-Up: It’s totally okay to reach out to the hiring manager or recruiter if you haven’t heard back. A polite check-in can provide clarity. 📩
- Stay Positive: Focus on other opportunities or stay busy to distract yourself from the wait.
- Community Support: Share your experience with others! Sometimes just talking about it can lighten the burden.
So I’m throwing this out to all of you—what do you think? Have you been in a similar situation? How did you handle the wait? Share your tips or experiences below! ⬇️
Thanks in advance for your advice! 💬
You aren’t impatient. They gave you a timeline and that has passed. All you can do is reach out for an update.
Not impatient BUT as an HR manager, this is totally normal to me. What you aren’t seeing is how difficult it can be to coordinate schedules of the hiring team. Who knows what came up for them this week. The hardest timeline for me to manage is hiring…..work always pops up that throws things off schedule.
I think it’s totally reasonable for you to reach out Monday and just say “Hey, still super interested. Is there any update?”
