So, AI interviews are a thing now, huh? 🤖 Let me tell you about my recent experience with one- it was definitely interesting, to say the least. 12 questions, on camera, with a mysterious AI on the other end… 🤯
Here’s my take on it:
– The questions were pretty standard, nothing too out of the ordinary.
– Passed with flying colors, but still left me wondering what was actually being evaluated.
– AI in interviews? Not sure if it’s quite there yet.
What do you all think about AI interviews? Have you had any similar experiences? 🤔 Personally, I’m a bit skeptical, but who knows, maybe it’s the way of the future. How could companies improve the AI interview process to make it more effective and less intimidating? Let’s discuss!
It sounds like a one way video interview. That’s not terribly new, nor does it necessarily involve any AI. But yeah they’re definitely weird!
Here’s another way to look at this…
The company doesn’t value you or your time enough to have you speak to one of their humans.
To me that’s a big red flag.
Boeing does this now from what I’m hearing / seeing. Seems like a terrible system and a pure grift from some tech entrepreneur. Sure a company doesn’t want to pay HR people to screen candidates but is it really in the companies best interest to have such an opaque barrier between candidate and company?
At least with human recruiters there’s a certain level of trust and accountability, with a program there literally is none.
AI or One-Way Interviews are weird…you could be sending the video to anyone- anywhere, who can do anything with the video. It seems more intrusive than time saving
When I was applying to grad school about 15 years ago, a lot of programs were starting to add voluntary video interviews like you described. Apparently my employer only started screening applicants this way very recently. Pretty sure they’re basically just screening for the bare minimum social skills.
You’d think this would be a lot less useful now that young people have so much social media savvy. But from what I’ve seen in younger employees nowadays, a lot of them really, really struggle with professional communication and presentation. I’d imagine this would be just a formality with an experienced applicant, but a pretty useful weed out tool to quickly cross off the kids who just aren’t ready for a professional environment.
One of the downsides to technology is that it often leads to the absence of real human interaction. I had two digital interviews (HireVue) where I was being filmed and had to answer a series of interview questions. It was just me looking at my computer. I have since refused to do a third one, which I guess is the point. Thin out the applicant pool even further.
I think it’s the future and it’s stupid. I seen something like this for a job, they wanted you to do a video recording interview. I had no idea what that would entail and sounded like you spoke about. I didn’t do it
These interviews were already a thing in 2020, I have done a few. They are horrible
I’m confused as to who actually benefits from these one-way interviews? I can imagine myself as the hiring manager: it would be so awkward to watch someone talk to a camera.
99% of people are not social media vloggers who are comfortable talking to a camera. It just seems like this process would be weird for both the interviewee and the interviewer watching it later.
Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Sanofi, IQVIA, Pfizer, they all use Hirevue (or a similar one) for interview assessments and if you pass, that is when they will let you have an interview with an actual human being. All resumes are being reviewed by AI. It’s sad, but that’s what this world has come into.
It might be helpful… This can take some of the accountability off of you in the long run.
I HATE THAT WE ARE LABELING EVERYTHING AS AI!
I get that it’s the big buzz word right now but there is nothing intelligent about displaying a list of questions for you to then record yourself answering the questions letting it know when you’re done by pressing a button so it can display the next question.
It probably transcribed your recording into text, then compares it to the desired response and gives you a score based on how close you are to the script they were given.
We trust parrots to do the jobs that could be done by a person who also needs a job. AI replacing jobs wouldn’t be a problem if people didn’t also need jobs to make money.
Who is going to be spending money when the only people making money are the ones that own the “AI”?
Sorry my job hunt isn’t going well.
feels like they are solely testing this thing out lol
How about a Chucky Cheese anamatronic doing the interview and answering the questions with AI generated responses [taps head big brain]? A perfect set for the hiring manager to look at.
