Hey everyone, have you ever experienced being promised one thing during a job interview, only to find out it was all a lie once you started working? 🤯 Well, that’s been my reality for the past five years.
I’ve gone through temp agencies, recruiters, and even found jobs on my own, and each time, I was misled about the job details. From hours to benefits to remote options, nothing was as promised. And guess what? It’s happening again with my latest role as a “Payroll Specialist.”
I was told I’d be handling payroll processing, but I’m actually just doing mail and scanning, like I did in high school. And those remote options and paid holidays? Not for me, because apparently, my title says “payroll,” but I’m considered administrative support. Such a joke, right?! 🙄
I believe one solution to this ongoing issue is for job seekers to ask more specific questions during interviews and have everything in writing before accepting an offer. Transparency is key in avoiding these disappointing situations. Any thoughts or similar experiences to share? Let’s discuss! 🗣️💬
A 1%er once told me: “A job interview is just two liars lying to each other.”
This is why you should feel free to level the playing field in whichever way is expedient and beneficial for you.

Try looking up unions in your area. I know that ATU covers office workers sometimes too. They should let you know what companies they have unionized and you can check for job opportunities.
