#CreditTraders – are you content with your comp? 💸
I’ve noticed that a lot of credit traders are earning less than 250k in total compensation, especially in high cost of living cities like NYC and London. With so much stress and little upside, what’s the appeal of this industry?
Here are some thoughts and potential solutions:
– Consider looking into regional opportunities where you can manage multiple desks and potentially break the 500k mark 🌍
– Explore trading floors in countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy where compensation may be more competitive 💼
– Diversify your skills and potentially transition into a higher paying role within the finance industry 📈

Credit traders? Or credit analyst?
Not pursuing either but from what I understand, credit trading is very intellectually stimulating for a finance role, which is one benefit. Can’t offer any perspective into comps/hours etc though
This sounds very wrong. A few guys I know are making much more than 250 and they aren’t MDs. Are you sure you’re talking about traders?
Yeah sorry credit traders make much more than that. Without going into hedge funds some middle level guys can clear $ 7 figures.
You don’t seem interested in actually listening lol and just fight with anyone that offers you insight
15 years exp and that TC is low as fuck lol
I don’t think your idea of credit trading is what credit traders in actuality are. 250k is like an associate level comp for credit trading
You are very mistaken bud. I know guys who were making 7 figures as directors 10 years into the job, starting in grad programs. And they aren’t desk heads, just solid line traders.
In London, 150K are NOT going into living expenses if you dont have kids in private schools
What are you talking about, 250k is only base income for credit traders. Most also have 250k bonus too.
any color for comp on credit traders in asia?
Just saw a job posting for a Credit Sales role at European bank in NYC. VP base of 250k
My old roommate trades MBS, is 30 and makes mid/high six figures.
How does this guy ask the question and get mad when people give him an answer?😂
Trading in Switzerland is not a great gig unless you’re at a hedge fund. Comp wise, private bankers absolutely destroy traders in Zurich and Geneva. I suspect only PM jobs at Pictet/etc. and big HF roles outearn the top PB’s in the DACH region. Source: Know of many VP PB’s in both Zurich and Geneva that clear $1-2m.
