JobSearch #Rejections #KeepingItReal
Hey everyone, so I just spent the day getting rejected left and right 🙃. It feels like a never-ending cycle of qualifications, experience, charm, and desperation all rolled into one. How do you all deal with job rejections? Any tips or tricks to share? Here are some possible solutions I came up with to tackle the rejection blues:
- Revise your resume: Make sure your resume is tailored to each job you apply for
- Network: Reach out to professionals in your field for advice and opportunities
- Practice interviewing: Brush up on your interview skills to make a great impression
- Stay positive: It’s tough out there, but don’t let rejections get you down!
So, how do you handle job rejection? Let’s share our experiences and help each other out 💪🏼. Oh, and by the way, update: make that eight rejections now 🙈.
Honestly, the best way to get a job is still to leverage professional relationships you’ve already built. That’s what the people getting the jobs you’re being rejected for are often doing.
>Now you need to exceed every qualification, preferred means mandatory, and you need to have experience in the same vertical, but at the same time, don’t be overqualified (god forbid). Also, be charming but not too charming, be clever but not too clever, and be accessible but not too available. And while you’re at it, tell me why you want to work here and why our widgets are the best widgets. Would you die for these widgets? There’s only one right answer. Also, don’t be so desperate.
Absolutely nailed it.
I’m a recruiter. Wanna make it 8?
Hey I got about 10 today. Today must be a big day for a lot of recruiters or something ??? I thought it was so strange, but I’ve applied to like 100 jobs in the last 2 weeks and barely heard back so I guess it’s about that time
That’s depressing
I know how you feel. It’s demoralizing and just straight up unfair. You’re doing your best to fit a mold and be yourself at the same time, and some bozo panel decides they don’t like it for whatever reason.
I echo every syllable mentioned here. I have only been getting rejections since I started in December 2023. Some take 20 days to move the application to the next round, only to be rejected within 24 hours, and some take 6 months to reject (but hey, I’m happy that I’m getting some kind of message from the company, lol).
I have been a good candidate for many jobs to which I have applied but keep getting rejected.
I question myself every time I click on the apply button.
Three years ago, the economy and job market were much better than now.
