Feeling Rejected at LifeTime Fitness
So, I joined a gym (LifeTime Fitness) a few months ago since I wasn’t working and needed something to do. I wanted to get a PT job and was thinking to apply there. I applied in the cafe and thought I was a shoe in since I had 4 yrs of working in a cafe previously. I got interviewed but wasn’t selected beyond that. I asked why and was told “we aren’t allowed to disclose that information”. Is there some rule that once you become a member they aren’t allowed to hire you to work there if you apply? They hired kids with no experience working who ended up quitting and drove the supervisor to stepping down instead of hiring me (who has cafe and work experience who wouldn’t have had those issues).
Solution: Overcoming Rejection and Finding Success
1. Networking within the Gym
Although your initial application may not have been successful, don’t give up hope. Take the time to network within the gym and engage with staff members. Building relationships with employees can increase your chances of being considered for future job openings.
2. Showcasing Your Skills and Experience
Continue to demonstrate your qualifications and experience to the hiring managers at LifeTime Fitness. Update your resume, highlight relevant skills, and express your passion for the fitness industry during any future interviews.
3. Exploring Alternative Job Opportunities
If an opportunity in the cafe is not available, consider exploring other job openings within LifeTime Fitness. The gym may have positions in areas such as membership sales, personal training, or group fitness instruction that align more closely with your skills and experience.
4. Seeking Feedback for Improvement
If possible, request feedback from the hiring team regarding your previous application. Understanding areas for improvement can help you better prepare for future job opportunities at LifeTime Fitness or other fitness establishments.
Remember, rejection is a common part of the job search process. Stay positive, continue to pursue your goals, and remain persistent in your efforts to secure a position at LifeTime Fitness or in the fitness industry.
