#JobHunt #JobSearch #Hiring
Hey everyone! So, I’ve been on this wild job hunt rollercoaster for about five months now, and I can’t help but wonder—is anyone actually hiring? 🤔
Here’s the deal:
- Frustration Abounds: I’ve been reaching out to different places, calling them up, or stopping by in person, only to be met with either a quick hang-up or a totally annoyed “no.”
- Wasted Efforts: The usual response is to “check the website,” but I have a hard time trusting those outdated listings. It feels like I’m stuck in limbo.
- Resumé Overhaul: I’ve spruced up my resume like three times now, but let’s be real, I’ve worked a ton of retail and food jobs—these shouldn’t be that complex for employers to sort through, right?
Honestly, I’ve hit a wall. Sometimes, I think about just packing it all up and retreating to the mountains. 😂
So, what’s happening out there? Are companies really in the market for new hires, or are we just stuck in the dark?
Possible Reasons for the Struggle:
- Market Saturation: Many people are in the same boat, which means more competition for a limited number of jobs.
- Outdated Listings: Companies are often slow to update job postings, leaving many of us chasing ghosts. 👻
- Hiring Dynamics: Some businesses might be hesitant due to economic uncertainty, leaving job seekers like me feeling left in the dust.
What Can We Do?
- Networking: Reach out to connections on platforms like LinkedIn. Personal recommendations can go a long way!
- Follow Up: If you’ve applied somewhere, don’t hesitate to follow up. A little persistence can show your enthusiasm.
- Broaden Search: Consider expanding your job search to similar roles. You might discover opportunities you hadn’t thought of before!
Now, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have you also been in this predicament? What strategies have worked for you?
Let’s support each other on this job hunt journey! 💪✨
and just for context. i have had interviews and ive been told ive done well. and usually interviews in minimum wage jobs mean that you basically already have it if you’re not awkward or inappropriate. so what gives? why are people wasting my time?
That’s what I’m wondering. I go months without somebody wanting to interview. I get the same damn generic auto rejection letter. Opening my email feels like a chore because literally almost all I see is spam and rejection or MLM trying to contact me. Rarely actual interview requests. No phone calls nothing. A fucking temp agency rejected me saying we can’t give you a temp job if you don’t have experience but thought that was the whole point is that it’s temporary to give me experience fucking useless shit company. I’d go to another one if they existed but everywhere else is just another useless employment agency.
Costco pays $30 per hour now. I’m not sure if that is only in California.
the healthcare industry is always hiring
It’s almost always about networking
Not jobs that pay what matches the market of the area they’re in. Abundance of crappy jobs. Why I never cared for the topic of job creation. If they aren’t life supporting jobs it’s all the same we not have them. Why some industries are always hiring and don’t ask for a lot of experience.
Bizarre that you say you “don’t trust the website” when that’s not only the logical place to look, but where people are explicitly telling you to.
Your insistence on ignoring the instructions from the people you’re hoping to get a job out of might be connected to why they don’t want to hire you.
I get phone interviews and in person interviews. I got a pending offer from one company, but they are hiring 2500 people and dont have the human resource staff to onboard and train them all so they are wait listing people. It’s 23.50 an hour, and im all for it, but im trying to find something that pays till i get the call
I know at least some of the jobs I applied to were hiring because they called my references and/or got back to me to reject me, and for the moment I’m going back to fast food, so yeah at least some places hire. Not enough for most of us to get jobs though.
no, if anything, there is downsizing across the board. People will tell you it has nothing to do with AI and they are mostly right but substantially wrong. Cynical employers are using the general publics ignorance of the true capabilities of current AI implementations to allow them to trim the fat without incurring a general backlash.
All employers want to do is waste your time, they don’t actually want workers.
Long story short, no. Unless your essentially need you. There just gonna use you and when there done with you they just leave you dry.
Just pray they start hiring or learn a trade
