#SysadminJob #Requirements #UpToDate
Hey fellow tech enthusiasts! 👋 Are the majority of sysadmin job requirements still the basic stuff that they were 10 or so years ago? Like, know basic troubleshooting stuff, MDT, SCCM or Ivanti DSM, Teams for Business, Sharepoint, SNOW, powershell, and batch? Or are they much more difficult to get these days? 🤔
Here are a few thoughts and possible solutions:
– It seems like the basic skills are still essential, but there is definitely a growing demand for more advanced knowledge in areas like cloud computing, cybersecurity, virtualization, and automation.
– Employers are looking for sysadmins who can adapt to new technologies quickly, think critically, and work well under pressure.
– Continuous learning and staying up-to-date with industry trends through certifications and networking can help you stand out in the competitive job market.
What do you think? Are sysadmin job requirements changing, or are they pretty much the same as they were a decade ago? Share your thoughts and experiences below! 💡#TechDiscussion #CareerDevelopment
Security is more of a concern nowadays I think. I think 2fa implementation, sso. Powershell is always nice. Some things are powershell only, like connect-exhangeonline and the configurations/settings/processes can only been done this way. Should probably know how to do back ups and configure the hypervisor infrastructure
Depends on where you are, but imaging, and management of a laptop fleet is still imaging and management of a laptop fleet. AD is still AD, but is not typically synched to Entra/AAD – and all the on prem stuff that might be managed in house (Sharepoint, Exchange) is now SaaS (typically).
