ClientRelations #BusinessTips #AvoidingBadClients
Hey everyone! ๐ Have you ever had a client that just drained your energy and sanity? I’ve had my fair share, and here are 3 types of clients I avoid like the plague:
๐ซ Disrespectful to employees: Clients who think it’s okay to treat my team poorly are a big no-no. Our employees are our backbone, and allowing anyone to insult them is a deal-breaker for me.
๐ซ Keep you on the hook (permanently in debt): Dealing with clients who constantly owe money and manipulate the situation is a nightmare. It’s important to set boundaries and not let clients hold you hostage financially.
๐ซ Doesn’t understand his business: Clients who don’t have a clear understanding of their own business can end up being a huge headache. It’s essential to work with clients who know what they want and can handle the services you provide.
What are some types of clients you avoid at all costs? Share your stories in the comments! Let’s learn from each other and create a better client experience for everyone. Penny pinchers for me
Worked in advertising for awhile, last point definitely hits the hardest. So many clients didn’t have a system to even take on leads. Then they would blame us. Of course we would show metrics. But what most needed first was a sales system to qualify and then present, sell, close potential clients before buying ads and lead Gen.
I used to be in lead generation. It’s a can be challenging to be in!
I always found that it’s a partnership, they are not really clients. We had to be super picky, and ensure that people could actually process the leads. Normally, this was not the case.
How do you generate you leads?
I run an e-commerce agency mostly working with Shopify & Amazon. Best 2 things i ever did was;
1. Making my contract watertight early on, with escalating late payment fees, and contingencies where if i had to take them to court for payment, they would be paying all costs.
2. Implementing a 50% deposit before work commences.
Those two things weeded out the vast majority of crap clients, to the point that in 5 years of working with about a hundred clients, i’ve only had 2 issues of late/non payment, and both resolved themselves in my favour.
Every ad agency Iโve ever worked with behaves like your point 2 experience. Atleast 20+ of them over the years.
Pressure with unrealistic or short deadlines, drive price down and pay months late after invoicing.
I despise working with and have had great success eliminating them and working b2b with clients.
Great stuff, I have a client to cull after reading #2.
Absolutely relatable! Clients should value partnership and respect.
Thank you very much for your testimonial
>I ended my relationship with this client and wrote off his debt after he bragged on social media about buying a Mercedes. It became clear he was simply manipulating us.
I worked for a marketing agency where we had a client who could never pay the 10% commission he owed us for his website sales. (This is something. he agreed to in exchange for services and promotion.)
Of course, he had enough money to buy a $100K recreational boat.
Adding to your list:
* People who talk at you and can’t listen in a conversation.
* People who never pay on time.
* People who won’t return calls & emails in a reasonable amount of time.
* People who ghost you in the middle of a project with no explanation.
* People who are continually angry or unsatisfied with other people (eventually it will be you).
How would you recognize client number three? And deal with them
Nice
