Hey ladies in finance π°, I could really use your advice! π Iβm feeling burnt out in my Corporate FP&A role and wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of stress and anxiety. Itβs tough being the only woman on my team, and I worry about the sustainability of this lifestyle.
– Has anyone successfully transitioned out of finance into a less stressful yet well-paying job?
– Is my salary of $110K after five years as an analyst considered average or on the lower end?
Iβd love to hear your thoughts and experiences! Maybe we can brainstorm some solutions together π€π‘. Let’s support each other in this journey! πͺ #WomenSupportingWomen #CareerTransition
Pivot to audit and/or compliance, those roles are lower stress and still pay okay.
Rx hypergamy……….
I made a lot more than you working in compliance (but NYC hedge fund life), and left by 6 every day. The only reason I considered leaving is that that salary is tied to urban/city lifestyle.
Also, finance is a bit of a grind. I wasn’t stressed out though. Try a different company?
That’s just burn out. Everyone feels it. For some they feel it so much that they just leave. Many other people follow the principle of not wanting promotions after a point. Happy at where they are at with their job and salary and don’t want to do any more in terms of responsibilities. That’s one way to avoid burn out I guess.
Can I ask you what study have you done? Iβm interest in finance and I would like to work there, but I still have to start university. Any tips? Thank you
Corporate FP&A shouldnβt be too anxiety inducing. Closing cycles are rough for maybe a couple days during the monthly closes or maybe for a week during a quarter close but your work load should be manageable. Iβm married with kids, and corporate finance is much less stressful than managing restaurants or being in sales. I love my job, so Iβm thinking you just need a better role.
When people ask about best careers for work life balance on this sub, we always say corp finance jobs like audit, tax, treasury, accounting, FP&A, controllership, etc.
I think you need to look into switching companies for a better work life balance. I am a women who worked at a Hedge Fund. I had a lot of responsibilities and some stressful days but I worked for a great company with the best co workers that would make me laugh to take the edge off on busy days. I truly enjoyed showing up for work every day. After many years I left to raise a family and have pivoted to working part-time doing accounting/books for a company. It sounds like you need a change but I would not give up on finance yet until you have tried working for another company that could be less stressful.
You should give me Your job πππππ¨βπ
You should look into possibly transitioning to a Loan Review or Credit risk type of role. Your FP&A accounting experience could be relevant. Definitely improved work life balance with still relatively decent salaries and good exit ops.
