🚫 #WorkLifeBalance #HolidayHours
Hey everyone, quick reminder as we head into the holiday weekend: let’s not support businesses that are open on the 4th of July if we’re the ones complaining about lack of work life balance around holidays. It’s time to practice what we preach, right?
Here are some thoughts to consider and a possible solution for all of us to benefit from:
– Our constant need for instant gratification is taking a toll on the well-being of employees who are expected to work around the clock.
– If we want to see a change in holiday hours and respect others’ time off, we need to stop feeding into the demand for businesses to stay open on holidays.
– Let’s do our shopping and errands during regular business hours and give ourselves and others the gift of time off on special days like the 4th of July.
Let’s work together to create a healthier work-life balance for everyone involved. What do you think we can do to make a positive change in this area? Share your thoughts! 💭 #TimeOff #RespectOthers
Yes, but the 24/7 creep only happens because non-essential businesses are allowed to run on holidays in the first place, and that’s not an individual choice. That’s a political one.
I work in a place that legitimately needs 24/7 coverage, no exceptions. I’m fine working on the 4th. I get extra pay and somebody with an actual social life can have fun. I could have asked for the day off but I chose not to.
And I’m not spending a dime. Some people are needed to work on holidays, but retail employees? Food service folks? Nope. It’s completely ridiculous to force store and restaurant employees to work the holiday.
But all I want is a six pack of Miller.
I’ll take the sweet, sweet double time. Speak for yourself.
