So, did anyone else receive that email from Squirrel about the data breach? It’s concerning that our passport and driver’s license information may have been compromised. 🐿️
Here are a few thoughts on the situation:
– It’s good that they’re offering reimbursements for passport replacement costs.
– However, it’s worrying that they don’t seem to have strong security measures in place, like multi-factor authentication.
– One possible solution could be for Squirrel to implement MFA to better protect sensitive data in the future.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Let’s discuss how we can better protect our information online. 💬 #DataProtection #OnlineSecurity #IdentityProtection
Got any more details to share on what the email actually said? Was it a data breach, a hack or something else completely? Purely basing on your post description it sounds like their third party verification service leaked that info by being compromised or someone accidentally sharing stuff publicly. Be great to know a bit more.
It’s only the details used to verify ID.
Strangely, the email advised only people who signed up in the last few days would be affected, yet the email said mine was among the leaked, despite me being a member for a long time.
Why does this post have the announcement flair? And I didn’t get any emails from them besides automated emails saying my money has been processed. Can you share what this email said?
I didn’t sign up within the last 30 days, but if this is true then they should notify all customers.
Really skeeves me out when I have to use those third party aml id processors. It should all be done through RealMe, not rando 3rd party company, it always has the whiff of being POLi of the ID world.
I signed up with Squirrel just before the dates affected, they haven’t said anything.
Certainly pretty concerning if they are trying to keep such a fundamental breach on the down-low.
On my bank app it said people were trying to take advantage of recent IT/crowdstrike issues so be wary of any emails about logins etc. So possibly something with this!
I always love the finger-pointing to the 3rd party company they’ve outsourced this stuff to .. As if I care. You don’t give me the option of which company to use, you picked them, so it’s your responsibility.
