Hey everyone! So, our bank surprised us today by giving us a call to check in on our home loan. Has this happened to anyone else? We’re actually really happy with our rate, but it was definitely unexpected! 😄
Here’s a little tip that might help – if you’re not happy with your current rate, don’t be afraid to ask your bank about potential options. It never hurts to explore different possibilities and see if there’s a better solution out there for you! Happy banking, everyone! 💸✨
Last time the bank called me I had 120k sitting there and they were trying to be very attentive to have me use them for my loan.
Not attentive enough to be competitive, just to be annoying.
My manager doesn’t call me even if I’ve been calling and emailing for 6 months lol tides might be turning yay
Nice to see a bank manager doing some actual customer service for a change!
Never a call. Spammy emails asking me to do a customer satisfaction survey occasionally.
As a branch manager who did this, this is called a I’m fishing to see if you are buying a 2nd, 3rd property and if I get convinced you to come with us. It’s a sales call disguised as a service call. If you asked for a better rate it was never happening
Happened to me about 2 years ago. I’m with Nab with LVR of less than 20%. I put it down to the fact that they were in doubt as I have been a position to change.
Had a call once from someone letting me know my very modest savings account could attract a better rate by switching to a different savings account.
Yep, Bank of Melbourne calls me once a year. And it’s directly from the branch I deal with, never pushy, just seeing if there’s anything they can do.
I got the cold call from my big bank 6 months ago. Asked if I was happy – of course I said no! Bloke proceeded to drop rate 0.5% without to much hassle and also reimbursed the yearly $395 package fee out of good faith. I couldn’t complain with that…
Yep got called twice in 6 months. Second time I said never call me again and they havnt so assuming it’s a telemarketing list more than anything
Edit to add : it’s bank of melb
They are looking for more business. Literally a marketing call
How did you identify them as the bank?
I’ve had commbank call me twice in five years to see if I’m looking at buying a property.
You’d think that if anyone knew I wasn’t financially ready, it’d be them.
I had this. Only it was under the guise of the original branch that I opened my account with having closed, and the new brach responsible for the accounts just letting me know they were there to help.
They caught me at a great time as I had just started the process of moving some of my accounts for better rates.
Further to sales calls, they’re pretty smart with their retention techniques too. I believe some of the majors might use cookies to identify someone through internet banking and determine if they visit the interest rate page. Add in other analysis it’s not difficult to see who is most ‘at risk’ and being proactive to retain them.
They don’t care if your happy
They want more business
Yeah any decent local branch will check in with customers – it helps keep the branch at the top of your mind if you need new lending.
Westpac robo-called me a few time.
Like Jesus Westpac… We just got done with your 6 character passwords, now you’re robo-calling customers that probably receive 7 scam robo calls a day? Seriously, what is wrong with this bank? One half makes a very nice app and webiste, then some 90 year old Luddite makes their IT/customer policies?
I have multiple accounts spread over multiple banks for both personal and business use and I’ve never received these calls.
I remember getting a call from NAB asking if everything is going well and if I have any feedback or issues I can always get in touch with them.
Westpac calls me every few months to check in, not sure what about specifically as it always goes to voice mail. However I only have a transaction account with them and I don’t really use it.
