Hey guys, so I just got fired for supposedly being late all the time, but I have three weeks of Google Maps history showing that I was actually on time! 😱
I don’t have an HR department at my job, so do you think it’s worth it to bring this up to my boss, who is the owner of the company? 🤔
Here are some possible solutions I’ve come up with:
– Present the Google Maps history to your boss in a calm and professional manner
– Explain your side of the story and ask for clarification on why you were fired
– Request for a second chance or additional monitoring to prove your punctuality
Have any of you been in a similar situation before? Any advice on how to handle this sticky situation would be greatly appreciated! 😊🕒 #SupportAndAdvice #JobDrama #GPSEvidence
Depends on what country and state/province you reside in, whether you’re in a union, or whether you have a contract.
Google maps? Has to be better proof than that.
Time clock? Record of signing in on any device?
If you were terminated for being late, but have proof that you’re weren’t, which it seems you do, I would call a lawyer and get a free consultation. It doesn’t hurt to just ask them if you have a case or not.
How can your employer show record of consistent tardiness when there is no clock-in procedure?
Well, it will help your appeal when your UI is denied.
I would send it to him, but not so he gives you your job back. Send copies to him and say I just wanted to show you my documents showing that I was consistently on time.
By doing this hopefully, he will then give you good references.
Unfortunately, it kind of sounds like the boss was looking for a reason to end things. I wouldn’t waste my time with them. But hang on to those records, just in case you are able and interested in pursuing unemployment or wrongful termination (I don’t know the laws around either).
“I’m supposed to be here at 8. Maps shows I show up between 7:55 and 8:03 every day, but I’m never late.”
Google maps just shows that your vehicle arrived in time. Not you.
That will be their defense.
Pulled into the parking lot and in the building ready to do your job aren’t the same thing, especially if you take your sweet time getting inside and set for your shift
And showing up 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after start of your shift is you being late. Sorry. No sympathy
Sorry 15 minutes before the start time is on time.
You were absolutely consistently late.
Arriving in the parking lot at 8:00 is late.
The question as to whether it should matter is a different problem.
I’m personally not a stickler for time but in my business if I have an appointment at 8am the expectation is ill be there waiting for the other party ready to go before 8am.
