🚨 Assaulted over showing a parent snapchats threatening my child 🚨
Wow, what a horrific situation to experience. 😔 It’s truly unacceptable behavior and you have every right to feel upset and confused about what to do next. Here are a few thoughts and possible solutions to consider:
-
Seek support from a therapist or counselor: Dealing with such traumatic events can take a toll on your mental well-being. Speaking with a professional could help you process your emotions and provide guidance on how to move forward.
-
Contact local advocacy groups: There are organizations dedicated to combating bullying and offering support to victims. They may have resources and advice on how to handle the situation effectively.
-
Consider pursuing legal action: While the police may have advised that pressing charges is a misdemeanor, it’s important to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions. Consulting with a lawyer could provide clarity on your options.
- Request footage from your apartment complex: If the incident was captured on camera, it could serve as crucial evidence for your case. You can reach out to your landlord or property management to obtain the footage.
Remember that you are not alone in this and there are people and resources available to help you navigate through this challenging time. Stay strong and prioritize your well-being. 💪 #YouGotThis
> My problem is this is all over a 9 year old that the cops say they can’t do anything.
They arrested the wife.
> Who to reach out to about bullying
There’s nobody. That’s why we as parents have to regulate our children’s devices. Don’t let this kid bully your child. You achieve that by protecting your child. Not confronting parents, but by controlling devices.
You should tell the police you want them to press charges.
It really looks like the police don’t want to do their job.
>the step dad ran and since cops didn’t see it they said they can’t do anything about it.
That’s not true at all. If that were, no crimes would ever be prosecuted. You need to file a police report with everything that happened. It’s not up to the police to decide whether charges can be filed, but to the prosecutor. You have your sworn testimony, witnesses and video. It’s a lot.
>My problem is this is all over a 9 year old that the cops say they can’t do anything.
That again isn’t true.
>The cops basically told me I have to press charges at court house
You should do that
>but it’s a misdemeanor and not a big deal.
Not for the police to decide
>I am scared to call dcf over retaliation and also feel like if I press charges it will be worth it
The guy assaulted you and is terrorizing the neighborhood. It’s up to you whether you want him prosecuted, but if no one stops him then it’s not going to get better. He might retaliate. He will probably retaliate anyway, even if you don’t file a police report.
>Is there really nothing I can do about being assaulted other than press charges.
Not really. You should file a police report and go to the courthouse if needed. You have the right to sue, if you can afford it then ask a lawyer what they think. You may ask for an order of protection against him.
>Who to reach out to about bullying
If the bullying against your son is happening at school, the school needs to be involved. Pressure them to do something about it. As well, try DCF/CPS. The kids behavior is far from normal, who knows what’s happening at home.
>The whole thing was on camera qt my complex but the cop said since the lady admitted to kicking my wife in face they don’t need cameras.
Video would definitely help the prosecution’s case. The cop is wrong. Again the prosecutor, not the police, should be making that decision.
>How can I get footage
You as an individual can’t really if they don’t want to give it to you. If you file a report and it gets prosecuted, the prosecutor can get the footage. If you sue, you lawyer may as well. In the meantime, ask building management not to erase it. Time is of the essence, you should take care of filing the report and going to the courthouse now.
>Thanks and sorry for the long post this happened tonight and I’m all over the place
And quite understandably so. Don’t let people take advantage of the confusion, the police don’t want to take care of it but it’s a serious case that should be dealt with.
If it’s financially doable for you, this is a time when consulting with an attorney to help you navigate the situation would be beneficial to you. If there’s a legal clinic somewhere near you they could help as well, you could try.
Do you guys have the same landlord and have you complained to the landlord about this behavior and demanded that the landlord take action like evicting the tenants who harass you and physically attack you ?
Do you know if the bully is related to someone in the department? This reminds me of cases where police ignore certain people of who their family is…
