Hey there! Dealing with a situation where your ex presented a fake parenting plan in an attempt to get you to pay 80% of your child’s college expenses can be incredibly frustrating and confusing. It’s important to know your rights and understand how to handle this deceitful behavior. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of what you can do in this situation and how to report the creation of fake documents.
Understanding the Situation
So, your ex has presented you with a parenting plan that seems suspicious and doesn’t align with the original paperwork from the courts. It’s clear that she has altered the document in an attempt to manipulate the situation and force you to pay for your child’s college expenses. This behavior is not only unethical but also potentially illegal.
What to Do Next
1. Verify the Authenticity of the Document: Make sure to thoroughly compare the document provided by your ex with the original parenting plan and divorce decree from the courts. Look for any discrepancies in formatting, language, and content.
2. Seek Legal Advice: It’s crucial to consult with a family law attorney who can review the documents and provide you with expert guidance on how to proceed. They will be able to assess the situation and advise you on the best course of action.
3. Document Everything: Keep a detailed record of all communications with your ex regarding the fake parenting plan. This includes emails, text messages, and any other correspondence that can serve as evidence of her attempt to deceive you.
4. Report the Fraudulent Activity: If you have substantial evidence that your ex has fabricated the parenting plan, it’s important to report this fraudulent activity to the appropriate authorities. This can include filing a complaint with the court or notifying law enforcement.
Taking Legal Action
If it’s proven that your ex has indeed created fake documents to manipulate you into paying for college expenses, there are legal repercussions she may face. This can vary depending on the specific laws in your jurisdiction, but common consequences for forging documents include fines, civil penalties, and even criminal charges.
It’s essential to work closely with your attorney to pursue legal action against your ex and ensure that she is held accountable for her actions. By taking a proactive approach and seeking justice through the legal system, you can protect your rights and prevent further deceitful behavior.
Protecting Your Rights
Ultimately, it’s crucial to stand up for your rights and not allow yourself to be taken advantage of by dishonest tactics. By seeking legal counsel and reporting the creation of fake documents, you can ensure that justice is served and prevent your ex from continuing to engage in fraudulent behavior.
In Conclusion
Dealing with a situation where your ex presents fake documents in an attempt to deceive and manipulate you is incredibly challenging. However, by taking the right steps and seeking legal guidance, you can protect your rights and hold your ex accountable for her deceitful actions.

If she is attempting to pass this off as an official court document when the court has no record of those modifications, then that is called Forgery and it’s a felony in all 50 states.
Think carefully whether you want to pursue criminal charges against the mother of your child, but if you decide to move forward, you can file a police report.
>>Can she get in trouble for this and how to I go about reporting the making of fake documents to trick someone into paying something they shouldn’t.
For fraud? Possibly forgery? Yes. You got trouble, folks, that’s trouble with a capital T
Just pay what the real court order states
I would contact your attorney and see what his advice is and how to handle this matter
IMO, Sometimes it’s cheaper and easier to just ignore crazy demands. Straight up say in writing that her document isn’t part of the court order and you won’t be discussing it with her. There’s no way she can enforce it. I seriously doubt any lawyer would take it to a judge when it’s clearly fake.
If you have plans to help pay for college discuss it with your daughter. Or email both your ex and your daughter explaining the extent of how much you plan to contribute. And then ONLY send money directly to the school or your kid. Never deposit money into an account the ex has access to.
Talk to an attorney. File a motion for clarification – something that brings it before the court so the judge can see how she is trying to falsify a court order. In 38 years of working in law I’ve never seen someone trying to falsify an actual court order. So incredibly stupid.
I would go straight to a court clerk and show them the evidence and ask them what is the best way to gonabout this. They are a fount of wisdom and how to use the court system in your favor.
