Hey there! 🌯 Are you thinking about committing to a Chipotle burrito-only diet for a health boost? While Chipotle burritos are delicious and may seem like a convenient option, it’s essential to consider the nutritional value and balance of your diet.
Can You Live a Healthy Life Eating Only Chipotle Burritos?
Eating Chipotle burritos exclusively may not provide all the necessary nutrients your body needs to thrive. Here are some points to consider before embarking on this journey:
Nutritional Value:
– Chipotle burritos can be high in calories, sodium, and fat, depending on the ingredients you choose.
– While burritos contain proteins, carbs, and fats, they may lack essential vitamins and minerals found in a balanced diet.
– It’s important to incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins into your meals for overall health.
Portion Control:
– Consuming large portions of burritos daily may lead to overeating and weight gain.
– Be mindful of portion sizes and consider adding healthier sides like salads or grilled veggies to your meal.
Customization:
– Opt for healthier choices such as brown rice, black beans, lean protein (like chicken or tofu), and plenty of veggies.
– Skip or go easy on calorie-dense toppings like sour cream, cheese, and guacamole.
Real-Life Examples
While it’s possible to enjoy Chipotle burritos as part of a balanced diet occasionally, relying solely on them may not be the best choice for long-term health. Here are some real-life examples to consider:
1. Sarah tried eating Chipotle burritos daily for a month but experienced digestive issues due to the high sodium content.
2. Jake incorporated Chipotle burritos into his weekly meal plan but balanced them with salads, smoothies, and other nutrient-dense foods for a well-rounded diet.
Remember, balance is key when it comes to nutrition! Enjoy Chipotle burritos in moderation and complement them with a variety of nutrient-rich foods to support your overall health and well-being. 🥑🥦🍅🍗 #EatWellLiveWell
Taking a quick glance at the menu, you could probably survive as long as you made sure to include a good variety of all the veggies. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re happens to be one vitamin that isn’t captured by those options
No veggies at all bro, at least add zucchini or eggplant or something.
Weight doesn‘t rely on what you eat but on how much you eat. You can be in „top shape“ only eating burritos if you eat the recommended amount in calories. That said you‘ll probably of some deficiency of some sorts sooner or later.
If you used this to supplement caloric needs and did not over consumer you would definitely live an average life
If you add veggies like fajitas, tomato salsa, and romaine, I think it’s not bad. The problem is the sodium though.
There’s more to it, you’re not in control of the salt, spices they put in it etc, and you’d likely be missing some essential vitamins and nutrients. Fruits, other vegetables etc
There is probably enough variety there if you were to get different things each time. Calorie wise you’d probably only want to eat 1-2 meals a day. The only thing that’s harder to get around is the sodium content.
No. Now pizza on the other hand
Chipotle adds a lot of salt to their food. If you’re getting all of your calories from chipotle then you’ve exceeded your daily salt limit by 10x, so 1000% excess sodium. You can do this if you’re young and well hydrated. It’s murder on the kidneys.
Weight is mostly about how much you eat. And how fit you are is mostly about how much you exercise. So eating Chipotle or not doesn’t really factor in to either of those. Of the fast-food type chains, it’s pretty good, but as others have said, you need to watch the salt.
I guess the real question is – why would you want to?
when i worked at chipotle (full time) i got one meal for free per shift. so i ate chipotle 5-6 days a week for a year, with that usually being my only big meal for the day. i gained 20 pounds and my blood pressure hit 138/89. i do not recommend it.
edit i am having a lot of fun being a case study and responding to people’s thoughts. i concede that you could easily eat at chipotle every day and not gain weight, but i maintain that avoiding high blood pressure due to all the sodium would be very, very challenging.
They’re very high in sodium which could be a problem. Not sure if all of the nutritional bases would be covered, most of them maybe. Get the veggies though for sure
We don’t know enough about food. The only true health rule is variation. Eat different things all the time to ensure you get all the nutrients a body needs
Depends on how you define healthy, mostly yeah they “could”
Yes
It’s all about the fixins
My ex-husband was normal weight but ate Chipotle almost every lunch. He had a heart attack at 46.
So in summary: no.
Everyone overcomplicates losing weight. You literally just have to count calories. You don’t need some magic diet. Insane how many people are fooled by diets and BS products thinking they have to do something special. No you just have to monitor what you eat and limit what you eat if you’re trying to lose weight or eat more calories if you’re trying to gain weight.
Literally as simple as that. Now as far as being healthy nutrition is a different story depending on what you’re eating
there’s a dude who eats big macs literally every day so if he can do it, maybe someone at chipotle could do it too.
By definition they are not living a healthy lifestyle.
You can be obese and eat only broccoli or be fit and eat only Chipotle. It’s all about the calories.
You wouldn’t gain weight if you were at or below your maintenance.
Idc what anyone says on here. “I gained 20lbs in a year eating burritos 5x a week” should have gone to a gym.
Most likely you’d be missing out on some vitamin…but generally speaking, chicken, beans, corn, peppers, avocado, onion, dairy, rice, steak, tomatoes…~ that’s a pretty well rounded diet…when compared to what the average person eats.
i would be worried about the salt…. i had a similar theory about pastor tacos recently…. it’s lean meat… homemade corn tortillas…. pineapple slice has vitamins and the onions and cilantro have vitamins and antioxidants… unfortunately the salt content is not very healthy….. oh well!
Chipotle is way to salty to eat for every meal. Youll have a heart attack from excessive sodium.
depends on how narrow your definition of one is, but probably not that healthy
If they have potatoes, you could just eat potatoes and have all bit calcium and vit d requirements met.
Nah. Youll just end up like Jared.
How many per day? Perhaps one would be ok. I think they near 2k calories. It would depend upon your regular calorie intake, exercise, etc.
Yes but no, too much of any one thing will kill you and probably lead to bad health and/or cancer. Especially if its something you make exclusive.
One could live on “unhealthy” foods and be incredibly fit. Portion control and diversifying one’s diet goes a long way here, but it’s scientifically doable and technically pretty feasible.
You could definitely go all burrito relatively easily, just be sure to mix it up a bit to cover your bases and be a little creative here and there (e.g. mango salsa sometimes).
Honestly, it’s probably better than a good chuck of American diets.
Hydration doesn’t cancel out salt, no.
Actually beans and rice are pretty healthy. If you got corn salsa, stuck to chicken over red meats, and went with vegetarian fajita like even a third of the time, you probably wouldn’t do too bad, nutritionally. Corn and beans have complementary amino acids, and can pretty much replace meat as a protein source.
The things that would get you are lack of variety and gut health.
You need more of a variety of plants with soluble and insoluble fiber, and their vitamins, and foods that contain micro nutrients like selenium (seafood is a source), to have an optimized diet and ensure you get all the vitamins you need, too.
You could live on it. And I’m sure some people do. You would likely end up with digestive and bone density issues later in life. But like it’s possible.
You’ll go broke fast doing that.
Cut out the chicken, cheese and fatty dressing and you’ll be fine but it will get boring
Be aware of salt as well.
You’d be farting all the time but it’s a pretty well rounded meal
Don’t get a burrito and rice. Pick one or the other. Same with cheese or sour cream. Opt out of both for healthier results
When I worked at Chipotle, we got a free meal every shift, so especially in the summer, I would have it every single day, sometimes twice. After a very short time I got pretty tired of the meats and the cramps they gave me, so I would just have only vegetarian food. Then I switched to “vegan” (I didn’t really intentionally order vegan to be vegan, I just couldn’t stomach all the cheese and sour cream anymore). I just piled all the beans and fajita veggies and pico over brown rice with occasional corn tortillas on the side. After I did that I lost like 15 pounds. But I also ate things outside of work, though most of my diet was Chipotle at that point. Even though I lost weight and felt fine I wouldn’t recommend it. I haven’t worked there in 10 years and the smell of the food makes me nauseous to this day. Too much of a good thing is still too much.
Me life burrito. Many times years burritos, me.
