You are lucky I’m a mind reader. And I know that you are talking about the sign that he once held that said “Road Runners can’t read, and don’t drink”. 1952’s “Beep Beep”.No one else would have gotten that.
There’s multiple ways to answer that. One would be to observe that Roadrunner’s are a real animal. Like coyotes. And they both can be said to drink. So, perhaps he’s lying.
Or perhaps it’s fiction, and you really should just relax.
It should be noted that both characters are notorious tricksters who can’t be trusted

The animators were going to make it 100% accurate to appease that tiny strip of % of people that would question it, but someone said “it’s a cartoon” so they did the automatic sign thing.
They did the automatic sign thing with Wile E. Coyote when he ran off cliffs because it was cheaper to re-use stencils than to draw a brand new parachute.
The ACME parachutes were free due to product placement, but it was in the warehouse across the lot
