Hey everyone! 🌟
Just wanted to share a bit about what I’m going through and maybe get some advice. I recently left a really toxic job after 6 months, which was quite a relief. Now, I’ve been at my new job for about 3 months. On one hand, it’s definitely an improvement. Not having a boss who yells at everyone is a plus! But on the other hand, it’s still pretty frustrating.
Here’s the scoop:
- Manager’s Style: Rude to stakeholders and micromanages us like we’re kids. We have to provide updates every half hour—who tracks their work like that?!
- Team Morale: Not much empathy from the boss. The expectations are just completely unrealistic.
- Past Comparison: My last job may have been a nightmare, but at least it was dynamic. This place feels like a step sideways, not forwards.
I know I should probably stick it out for at least two years considering I was only at my last job for half a year. My previous roles were six years each, so I’m kind of torn on what to do next.
I can’t help but feel disillusioned. I used to love my job, and now it feels like I’ll never truly enjoy what I do again. 😔
So, I guess my question is: is it even possible to find happiness in a job? Or should I just consider myself lucky to have a non-toxic workplace? 🤔
If you’ve been in a similar situation, I’d love to hear your stories or any tips you might have to rediscover joy in a job. Let’s share our experiences! 🌈
You don’t need to stay at a place you don’t like for two years. Why would you sign up to work long term at a place you don’t like?
I’d definitely at least put in a year, that’ll erase doubts of job hopping -especially considering your prior history of staying at places. You don’t need to relegate yourself to two years of hell.
You do need to take stock of what happened, get a cool head, and figure out a path forward. I’m in a similar situation to yourself, and that’s what I’m planning. The new place I went to even started doing layoffs.
I’m going through something similar. Mine was bad (was there for almost 8 years) and I got something paying way more and it’s a NIGHTMARE. Try to swing right at a year if possible but don’t let it ruin your confidence and your health.
