#InterviewLies – Have you ever stretched the truth at a job interview? 🤥 Let me tell you a story that will make you question everything!
So, my friend landed a sweet gig as a graphic designer at a major food corporation. And get this – she couldn’t even provide proof of her previous work experience! 🙀
Now, she was honest about it, but they hired her anyway. She started thinking, what if she was actually lying and they never bothered to fact-check? 🤔
Then there’s my other friend, who straight up lied about having her degree at an interview. Spoiler alert: she never finished due to money issues. But guess what? They hired her without checking! 😱
These stories got me thinking – why do some hiring managers not give a damn about the truth? Are we all just winging it in the job market? 🤷♀️
But hey, before you start prepping your resume with fibs, remember – some fields you should NEVER lie about. Let’s keep it real, especially when lives are on the line. 😉
So, spill the tea – ever told a little white lie at an interview? Let’s chat! 🍵 #JobInterviewStories #TellTheTruth #ImposterSyndrome #HowToGetHired #JobSearchTips
I’m all for this. This is how my cousin got a super sweet nanny gig for a rich family. She had done it in the past, but every family interviewing her didn’t think she had enough experience according to their personal standards. When the current family she works for asked for references, my cousin asked her family and friends to pretend to be previous clients, and boom, she got the job.
Now she gets paid to go to on her client’s vacations and the kids get a super awesome nanny. She’s been with them for 5 years now. As long as no one is getting hurt, there is no harm in lying at your interviews. Do what you have to do to get that job.
Just don’t do it for the REALLY important and easily verified things, like lying about having a degree or something of the like, because lying during an interview or on an application could potentially be prosecuted as fraud, a felony in some states.
As a graphic designer – did either of these people have a portfolio? (I’m guessing not?) Because my portfolio has always been very important, from getting interviews, to being a main part of the interview. I have been seeing listings lately in creative jobs where it says a portfolio is a must to even apply.
Damn. The new McDonalds logo is about to look craaaazy.😂
A long time ago, I had a big gap in my work history, but the company I had worked for afterwards went out of business because three of four partners were jailed for fraud. So, when interviewing years later, I just extended my dates at defunct company to cover the gap.
I’ve told little fibs or stretched the truth on applications n interviews. I’ve lived in 3 sates. My current state I live in I couldn’t believe they asked for my high school diploma, my HS transcripts and college transcripts despite I graduated High School in 2009. And I came with lots of work experience. First time anyone ever asked me in my working career I was baffled.
I used to lie and say I had a bachelors degree from some defunct art college in my hometown. It worked for years, even if they looked it up online, they would’ve found the college and it closing.
I work at a big food corp too and they didn’t really bother to check my experience either, but in my case they were pretty desperate to find someone due to an upcoming audit, but I’m still surprised at how chill the hiring process was (I didn`t lie tho)
Watch the movie parasite it’s so good.
Also, yeah you can lie in your interviews 😅
You can also have your friends be professional references and they’ll lie for you also.
Lying about experience is fair game – as you said, you will learn everything you need on the job anyway. Just don’t lie about things that are easily confirmable, like degrees. They will catch you there.
There have been stories of scandals involving lies about completed degrees. I don’t see the point in lying about that. It’s not like graphic design requires a degree in the way some other professions do, even if a specific employer requires it.
