#StrugglingWithClassesAndJobHunt #FeelingLikeAFailure
Hey everyone, so I’ve hit a roadblock and I could really use some advice. I’m a 20-year-old female who decided to take a break from community college to clear my head. I was pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, but I couldn’t seem to get past the precalculus hurdle (thanks, algebra and trigonometry!). Despite getting tutoring help, I kept failing. It’s seriously dented my confidence.
Fast forward to now, I’ve been out of school since February and I’ve been on a job hunt spree. I’ve applied everywhere from restaurants to retail stores, but no luck. To make matters worse, I totally bombed a recent interview and it left me in tears. I feel like a complete mess.
If anyone out there has been through something similar or has some advice to offer, please share! I could really use some guidance right about now. Let’s chat and support each other in this journey of ups and downs. Can anyone relate? 🤔 #SupportSystemNeeded #CommunityOfEncouragement
Did you ever get a tutor for algebra and pre calculus?
For your difficulties with interviewing, have you ever gone to a career centre/job gym/career coach? They can help you prepare for interviews and determine any strengths or weaknesses you might have
I think you need to reconsider your major based on your difficulty with precalculus. Maybe you’re not cut out for software engineering. You’ll be able – on your way – to restore your confidence when you choose a vocational path that is in alignment with the person you truly are and with your natural gifts and talents. Don’t try to be something you’re not. Consider a career choice test. Be true to yourself. Reconnect and communicate with community college (guidance counselor, study advisor) to get yourself on track again (f.e. a study plan). Once you’ve switched your major, look for a side job again. There’s really no need to put yourself down. You just need guidance. Solid advice. So you’ll learn how to cope with setbacks or disappointments and how to steer or manage yourself through this situation. Life is trial and error. You’re not a failure. Stand up for yourself. You’re worth it. Act. Make the changes. It’ll give you inner peace (calmness). Because you’ll know that you’re in control – at the steering wheel (“captain of your ship”).
Talk with friends and family might help to recover the moon i guess
Failures are a part of the journey!!!! You know what you “fall short” in!!!! However, DO NOT QUIT!!! ❤ ️ 🔥 If your goal is software engineering, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO MAKE A WAY!!!! You are a WOMAN!!!! (Within you are the powers that “men” desire to have!!!!! Read the ancient mythologies outside of the Holy Bible and you will “🙈” see that whatever you (woman) desire to create and make is within the very essence of your “Be” -ing!!!!
You only have 20 years of life 🧬!!!! You are just starting with many scenarios to meet yet !!!! You will fail/ succeed in many things going forward but never give up because YOU are greater than anything in this world!!! 🔥
Remember this: do what you have to do to emote; center yourself and get up and conquer this mystery of mathematics!!!! Find tutors and get YOUR DREAM!!
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Everyone has purpose, trust me.
1. Heal yourself
2. Accept who you are, your own strengths, without doing what gives most money or what is logically besy
3. Live, do not survive
Do you WANT to be a software engineer? If you do, I believe you can figure out the obstacles. But if you’re not sure it’s what you want, then maybe talk to a career counsellor to evaluate your options.
This isn’t a simple math class. So don’t be too hard on yourself.
Question, do you have a passion for creating apps and coding? Or is it that you felt or have been told a degree in STEM will give you a good career and good money?’
What is the actual goal or vision you have for your life? And is a STEM degree actually essential to it?
