Hey everyone! 🌟 So, I’m currently facing a bit of a dilemma in my 30s and feeling a bit lost about what to do for a career. I never really figured it out in my 20s and now I’m eager to get moving and start something fulfilling. I wanted to reach out to this community for some suggestions and guidance.
Here are a few key points to keep in mind:
– I only have a high school diploma but I’m open to further education
– I live in a high cost of living area near Toronto
– Looking for a career that pays well and is in demand
– I have strengths in writing, coordination, analysis, and working with others
Possible Solutions:
1. Consider looking into skilled trades – a great way to get into a high-demand field without a long educational commitment.
2. Explore community college for a 2-year business diploma to get a feel for different areas and potentially transfer to a university later.
3. Research careers that align with your strengths such as project management, writing/editing, or data analysis.
4. Look into online certifications or courses in areas like digital marketing, coding, or graphic design for in-demand skills.
5. Network with professionals in different industries to gain insight and advice on potential career paths.
I hope these suggestions spark some ideas for you! Remember, it’s never too late to make a career change and pursue something that truly fulfills you. Good luck! 🌟💼📚
You didn’t mention what you’ve been doing for work. That can influence suggestions.
Without knowing what you are doing now, or what you are interested in… but since you are looking at alternatives to school or trades – I know a lot of people in sales that make good money and have a good quality of life. Specifically sales that are directed to companies.
For trades, specifically electrician and plumber are great trades to get into. If you don’t want something hands on, look into project management or estimating. Good money as well.
For school, depending where you are based you want to look at what’s in demand. Canada/US have a diploma mill going on right now, so if you are planning on going to school look at something like a bachelors degree or a certificate in something niche in a field you’d like to be in. Based on your strengths, you may do well in Engineering – depending on your level of focus and mental abilities. I went that route but it is HARD.
Your skills and interests may align with product or project management. There are online courses and certifications. If you go into tech, learn Agile.
