Hey everyone! 😊
I’m on this exciting journey to land a position as a **Junior Trader**, and I’ve been thinking:
– **Would you consider hiring someone with my background?**
– **What other roles do you think could be a good fit based on my resume?**
I’ve been putting in the work to build my skills, so I’d love to hear your thoughts! Here’s what I believe could showcase my potential:
– **Educational Background:** I’ve got a solid foundation in finance and economics. 📘
– **Analytical Skills:** I’m proficient in data analysis and can interpret financial metrics effectively. 📊
– **Market Knowledge:** I’ve done extensive research on trading strategies and market trends. 📈
– **Software Proficiency:** Familiar with trading platforms and tools—the tech side doesn’t scare me! 💻
With this resume in hand, I’m curious about the range of roles out there beyond just **Junior Trader**. 🤔
Here are a few that come to mind:
– **Trading Assistant:** Supporting senior traders and gaining exposure to various trading strategies.
– **Analyst Position:** Focusing on market research, analysis, and reporting.
– **Risk Management Role:** Learning risk assessment to safeguard portfolios.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process or has tips to share.
– **What roles have you found to be a smooth transition from Junior Trader or similar positions?**
– **What advice would you offer to someone trying to break into the trading industry?**
Your experiences could really help someone else on this journey! Let’s open the floor for discussion and help each other grow.
Thanks for your insights! 💬✨
Sorry to spam but – other bullets I previously included, curious if anyone thinks they are better than the current projects listed:
**Summer XXXXXX Competition, Buyside Firm**
* Invited to compete against 75 teams from top universities, coding and optimizing a Python algorithm to play a real time strategy game, captaining my team to the semifinals of the culminating competition
**Game Development and Ownership, Roblox Platform**
* Designed, coded, and monetized games on the Roblox platform visited by thousands of players each month, administering AB tests, recognizing player spending patterns and market segmentation, and iterating product offerings to improve the return on advertising expenditure by 200%
I would put your experience above your projects but your resume is solid.
Did you get a return offer from where you were this summer?
Can’t read anything
Honestly, I wouldn’t really put those projects for trading roles unless you really know what you are doing and can withstand them grilling you on it.
I’d swap technical skills with experience, while keeping projects in the middle. Solid resume tho
Wheres RO from Internship?
Also, seems a little too cluttered (maybe remove agency intern?). As others mentioned, if you can be grilled on everything here, leave the projects in, else, leave them out.
Needs quantifiable results at the end of each bullet
– Change the font
– I personally don’t like how the format of the technical skills, way too clustered, feel like you could (and should) remove many of those
– I personally don’t like the job title right next to the company, put it under (see WSO template, see how title and cities is listed, as well as technical skills are listed)
– add the cities (on the same line as job title)
– change the order, have it be…
– Education
– Experience
– Projects
– Technical skills
Dawg I cant even see whats in ur resume

I’d give you an OA and get you into the process, but looking at your resume I would not just directly decide to hire you.
Mid-Target Master’s already cuts out most of the top shops. Optiver and JS don’t hire from master’s or at least not from UChicago b/c they don’t like the way finance is taught there. Some firms will prefer MFEs though so it could work in your favor.
If your mid-target Master’s is a top 10 undergraduate CS program then I think that would work in your favor. Fact of the matter is, when I was an intern two years ago and now that I’m full-time, our entire cohort was HYPSM + GT/Cornell/Berkeley/Penn + Duke. Not a single other hire outside of that.
In this industry it’s more about pedigree on your resume and prior experience at competitors, nobody really is willing to take a shot on the unimpressive or against-the-grain candidate when they have 50 cookie cutter MIT physics resumes.
Just being completely transparent and level setting your expectations. I think banks/S&T roles would be just as picky as the prop trading/market making firms I was referring to mainly.
