#AuctionHouse #WinningBid #LegalAdvice #Connecticut #LawyerNeeded
Hey everyone! 🎨🏠 Just won an auction for $131,000 only to receive a call from the auction house asking for $300k post-win! 😱 Has this ever happened to anyone else before?
Here’s the deal:
– Minimum bid was $50,000
– No reserve price listed
– Auction house now demanding more money after I won
Should I hire a lawyer in Connecticut for this? 🤔 What would you do in this situation?
Possible solution:
– Consult with a legal professional in Connecticut to understand your rights
– Review the auction house’s terms and conditions
– Consider negotiating or seeking mediation to resolve the situation
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! 🙏 #LegalAdviceNeeded
You need to check the auction rules, I suspect the answer is there.
Get a lawyer. That’s scummy if a reserve was not listed.
Should see lawyer when you’re talking about a difference of nearly 170k. States often have laws governing auctions that they cannot be withdrawn or ask for more money after the process is concluded unless there is a reserve minimum set.

>Such a sale is with reserve unless the goods are in explicit terms put up without reserve. In an auction with reserve the auctioneer may withdraw the goods at any time until he announces completion of the sale. In an auction without reserve, after the auctioneer calls for bids on an article or lot, that article or lot cannot be withdrawn unless no bid is made within a reasonable time. In either case a bidder may retract his bid until the auctioneer’s announcement of completion of the sale, but a bidder’s retraction does not revive any previous bid.
I often refer people to their state’s consultation referral service that connects you with a lawyer in your area averaging at 30 minutes for $30 but it looks like the Connecticut Bar Association offers their own message board as well.
