#BossLiedAboutHavingCancer š” #WorkplaceDeception
When your boss lies about having cancer, it can be not only shocking but also deeply hurtful. It’s a blatant manipulation of your emotions and a breach of trust. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, it’s important to know that there are steps you can take to address the issue and protect yourself in the workplace.
š« The Deception: A Violation of Trust
The revelation that your boss lied about having cancer is not just a casual white lie – it’s a serious breach of trust. It’s understandable to feel angry, betrayed, and unsure of how to proceed. But know that you’re not alone, and there are ways to address this situation.
š Investigate and Gather Evidence
The first step is to gather evidence that your boss did indeed lie about having cancer. Consider speaking with other colleagues or HR to see if there have been any inconsistencies in your boss’s story. This will help you build a case against the deception.
š Document Everything
Keep a detailed record of any conversations or interactions related to your boss’s claim of having cancer. This includes dates, times, and any witnesses present. Having a clear, documented record will be crucial if you need to take further action.
š¤ What Can You Do?
If you find yourself in a situation where your boss has lied about having cancer, it’s natural to feel unsure of how to proceed. You may be wondering if there are any legal or ethical ramifications for your boss’s actions. Here are some steps you can consider taking:
š¬ Confront Your Boss
If you feel comfortable and safe doing so, consider having a conversation with your boss about their deception. Approach the situation calmly and professionally, and express how their actions have impacted you and the workplace.
š Seek Support from HR
If confronting your boss directly feels too daunting, consider speaking with your HR department. They are there to support and protect employees, and they can offer guidance on how to address the situation.
š Consider Legal Action
If the deception has had a serious impact on your work environment or if it’s part of a pattern of unethical behavior, it may be necessary to seek legal counsel. An employment lawyer can help you understand your rights and explore potential legal actions.
š©āāļø The Legal Side: Know Your Rights
In most cases, lying about having cancer in the workplace can be considered a form of fraud or emotional manipulation. It’s not just a breach of trust, but also a violation of workplace ethics. In some jurisdictions, it may even be considered illegal. It’s important to know and understand your legal rights if you’re in this situation.
š”ļø Protecting Yourself in the Workplace
As you navigate the fallout of your boss’s deception, it’s crucial to take steps to protect yourself in the workplace. This may include documenting everything, seeking support from HR, and considering legal action if necessary. Remember that you have rights as an employee, and you deserve to work in a safe and respectful environment.
š¤ Seek Support
Dealing with a situation where your boss has lied about having cancer can be incredibly challenging. Remember that you’re not alone, and it’s okay to seek support from colleagues, friends, and family. Consider reaching out to a therapist or counselor to help you process the emotional impact of this situation.
š Moving Forward
Ultimately, the decision of how to address your boss’s deception lies with you. Whether you choose to confront your boss, seek support from HR, or consider legal action, it’s important to prioritize your well-being and professional integrity. Remember that you deserve to work in an environment where you feel respected and supported, and don’t hesitate to take the necessary steps to protect yourself.
Realistically.. Nothing you can do. That’s fucked up tho. I’d be sure to spread that around to other coworkers, although that will almost definitely make things worse…
Wait, then find an opportunity to nominate your boss to do a presentation on his inspirational cancer battle to the whole company.
“mind over matter”?
Bitch, if it was mind over matter, you wouldn’t have gotten it to begin with
Jfc what a douche bag
Wow, what an asshole.
Start a GoFundMe me in his name and get the company to match donations.
Once there is some money coming in let him explain things.
No amount of mind would stop him from sobbing into a fucking 6″ from subway because every bite feels like chewing glass dust from all the fucking mouthsores.
Chemo is not mind over matter. No matter how strong you think you are, you will break. I don’t believe in God. I still begged God every day in the parking lot before my chemo appointments to just kill me already.
The first 3 weeks weren’t that bad. The last 6 were agonizing.
Bud, you need to apply for and find a new job. On the way out you need to report this formally to all the board members. This is beyond disgusting behavior. That’s assuming you work for a small engineering firm.
If this is a large company, you need to go to HR.
Out this motherfucker for falsely claiming he has cancer. Let him fucking rot and then heās gonna wish he fucking had it when everyone turns on him in his life.
please record the asshat saying he has cancer.
Honestly, all I would do is update my resume. A PE takeover means cost cutting to generate its ginormous profits is coming. There will likely be no rhyme or reason to who gets the boot other than reducing payroll. It’s just another thing to hate about trying to stay gainfully employed today.
Proving bosses are sociopaths once again
Start collecting donations, just recruit some people to help you collect eventually itāll reach someone who knows heās lying, then everyone will want to know what is going on and why he lied and you can just play dumb
Tell all your colleagues about how your bossā story about him beating cancer really cheered you up; and that youāre really going to talk to your Dad about the bossā mind over matter approach.
Sounds good, right?
Itās not. You have enough on your plate to worry about without your bossā narcissism. Focus on your Dad.
You already told his brother-in-law who probably already knew that your boss was an ass.
Send an email to All Staff (which includes the board) saying that you’re sorry to hear he has cancer.
Sit back and wait.
As someone who has had cancer it depends on the chemo drugs used and how many he has had.
If it was his first he may well feel fine. I was given steroids with most of my chemo (until it was deemed unnecessary) and I did genuinely feel fine the first few days after. It used to hit about 3-4 days post treatment.
I would have chemo on a Tuesday and I was usually fine until Friday afternoon/night. I would spend most of the weekend sleeping and be okay by Monday
While it is possible he is lying he might not be.
Well if he has Cancer then everyone in the company should know so that people will be more caring around him, you get what I mean right.
āDying of cancer is for losersā -OPās Boss
Do a bone marrow donor drive in honor of boss.
Wow! Your boss is a grade A psychopath whoās created so much bad karma for himself from this lie!
This is so fucking disgusting. Wow.
Find a new job. Now. This person very likely has real narcissistic personality disorder. They (probably) lied about having cancer, and they used that lie to one-up you. Dishonesty, demanding all the attention available, making it about them…eep. If a narcissist turns on you, your life will absolutely suck.
Organize an event where people shave their hair to donate in honor of his struggle – shave your head. Or, organize a fundraiser to an actual cancer org and say itās in his name/get people to donate in his name and know he āhas cancerā – then at least youāre collecting donations for a real cause?
Like everyone else has said, kill him with kindness and start organizing cancer related things for your boss. Once he admits to being a fraud, send your detailed notes to a news channel.
Is your boss Trump??? lol
My boss did a thing like this. It was about demeaning and undermining pain and difficulty.
I had cancer, she kind of offhandedly said she had it too and had biopsies.
Mine was worse, had two surgeries and radiation and loss the use of the upper left nerves on my face from the surgeries.
I left her ass and started my own firm (Iām a lawyer). When I started I was literally sleeping in my office hovering between the pain of cancer and doing work. I had it on my face (skin cancer) and pain was growing as it grew fast as I was waiting for my surgery date, and the cancer was pressing up against my facial nerves making it feel like I was getting slapped in the face repeatedly.
ps watch out for shitty insurance
