Тhе 501 аlsо dоеs а tоn оf сhаritу wоrk аnd things fоr kids. Оnе оf thе bеst fаnbаsе whеn it соmеs tо giving bасk…
I bet the 501st was more screen accurate than what production had. Hahahaha
Similar thing happened with the movie Gettysburg (1993). Thousands of civil war reenactors volunteered for the battle scenes.
Multi billion dollar company not enough money for customers LMFAOOO pathetic
Already 4 years ago???
This would be an insanely cool level of engagement for any kind of hobbyist.
They also get a shout out in the Lego Star Wars Yoda Chronicles – “Escape from the Jedi Temple”
C-3PO get’s a “makeover” and turns into a kickass fighter, the stormtroopers call for back up saying there’s a droid wiping out the 501st.
Vader jumps up and says “501st! They’re my guys!”
That’s what happens when you call a bunch of Fans who would jump at the chance to be a part if the Universe
I think in the group it’s a huge flex to have your armor set have this “stamp” that authenticates your armor was used for a show/film.
That is fantastic
This is a milquetoast suburban dad’s wet dream.
Never forget my experience with the local Detroit group. They were so nice to my kids. They gave out baseball cards of themselves. It was so cool. Great bunch of people.
Reminds me of the film Gettysburg where the soldiers are volunteers and enthusiasts with some of them even bringing their own cannons. And because they have knowledge d some training from reenactments and such, that’s a lot of experience to make it feel more authentic
That white amour they wear must be the most ineffectual personal protection gear in the history of fictional warfare. Their guns are also wildly inaccurate. 🙂
While super cool for fans to get in on it:
How TF does a production for DISNEY not have the money to buy the equipment they need?
Seriously, this is a “corporate penny pinching” story sold as a cool thing.
No, fuck corporate penny pinching.
Yeah they realized they didn’t have enough Stormtroopers to make their number really feel impactful on screen, and didn’t have the time to make more armor sets at that point in time, so called in the 501st to help fill the set. Really cool story because the 501st are a legit group that does good for their community and now a couple dozen of them have “screen-used” armor (or whatever you would call it).
“local fan group” lmao
501st to the rescue!
For the people that make those costumes, the thing they strive for is film accurate costumes. The second they showed up on set, their costumes became 100% film accurate. The greatest honor any of them could have.
501st from Chicago, right?
It shows the poor planning in Lucas films. You nail the details before filming.
