FINALLY GOT AN OFFER
After a year of hunting, thousands of applications, hundreds of interviews, and countless rejections – I finally got an offer! π It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, but the hard work and perseverance have paid off.
##Background:
– Current role: Financial Analyst II, $65k + 10%, working in FP&A at a utility, 2-3 days in the office
– Offer: Strategic Finance Analyst, $100k fully remote at a high-growth utility in CA
– Anticipating another offer this week – exciting times ahead!
###How I Made It Happen:
1. **Early Boost**: Working as a contracted analyst during college at an o&g company allowed me to show 3 years of experience early on.
2. **Job Hunt Strategy**:
– Mass applied: At least 100 apps a week
– LinkedIn Premium: Spammed recruiters on LinkedIn
– Network: Worked with recruiters to get interviews for good jobs
3. **Resume Magic**:
– Perfected resume: Repeatedly complimented on it
– Key to getting interviews and making it past ATS
4. **Interview Skills**: Highly extroverted and does well in interviews
– Targeted Sr. FA roles due to limited opportunities in FP&A
5. **Landing the Role**:
– Saw the job on LinkedIn with no applicants
– Applied, had a phone screen, panel interview, and a challenging case study
– Utilized WSP financial modeling course for confidence in interviews
###Advice for Job Seekers:
– **Persistence**: It’s a numbers game – something will stick eventually
– **Preparation**: Good resume, interview skills, and additional skills can boost your chances
– **Optimism**: Keep your head up, keep doing what you’re doing, and something will come your way
In conclusion, the job market can be tough, but with the right strategy, preparation, and a little bit of luck, you can land the job of your dreams. My experience might not have a secret sauce, but I hope it serves as a source of inspiration and guidance for fellow job seekers. Onwards and upwards! π

Wao man congrats I wish I could connect with you.
Hundreds of interviews is crazy. Usually getting an interview is the hard part and after that the acceptance rate is in the double digits.
Congrats. What are the responsibilities of the offer?
awesome mate, welll done
CONGRATS!! Well done my friend.
Congrats!
Donβt spend it all on fast food
sorry, but how can you survive in CA with TC 100k ?
Congrats big man! Iβve applied to hundreds of jobs recently and got no bite. Any advice or networking tips?
Congrats!Β That is a great step up!
This is at a high growth utility?Β
Is this is an investor-owned utility or a community choice aggregator? I thought the only utilities were the well-established PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E.Β
Congratuations!!! Good luck! In terms of fully remote, put your camera on as much as possible. It is proven that if people “see” you when they interact with you, chances are they are more apt reach out to a familiar face than not.
My son is a finance major and is going on 3 months of hunting. Within an hour or 2 of jobs being posted, there are hundreds of applications submitted. It is very discouraging for him. I think I am going to try and get him an unpaid intern position at my job (fortune 5) company for the experience. He is only 24 and lives with me still and it is just so hard to get hands on experience.
Omg W
Hey man congrats! Even your current role is a goal for some!! Iβll shoot you a message
How did you get 100s of interviews?
