#MotionBlur #Gaming #GamersUnite
Hey gamers! 🎮 Do you ever find yourself feeling a bit disoriented or nauseous when playing certain games? 🤢 It might be because of that pesky motion blur effect that seems to be everywhere these days. But fear not, as we’re here to dive into the debate of whether motion blur is a friend or a foe in the gaming world. Let’s explore the pros and cons of this controversial setting and discuss some practical solutions for those who just can’t seem to decide.
### The Problem: Motion Blur Madness
Was just wondering if people actually use/like motion blur in games?
The first thing I do when starting a game is go to the options turn on subtitles and turn off motion blur.
I’m curious if people like having it on as a setting? Or if they turn it off for multiplayer games but leave it for single players?
Also any other setting you guys immediately change or tweak when starting a new game?
### Embrace It or Erase It: The Dilemma
When it comes to motion blur, opinions are divided. Some gamers argue that it adds a sense of realism and immersion to the gaming experience, mimicking the way our eyes actually perceive motion in real life. On the other hand, many gamers find it distracting and disorienting, leading to headaches and discomfort during extended play sessions. So, what’s the solution?
### Solutions for a Smoother Gaming Experience
1. **Turn It Off**: If motion blur isn’t your cup of tea, don’t hesitate to disable it in the game settings. This simple tweak can make a world of difference in your gameplay experience and help alleviate any discomfort caused by the blurriness.
2. **Adjust the Intensity**: Some games offer the option to customize the intensity of the motion blur effect. Experiment with different settings to find a balance that suits your preferences and minimizes any negative side effects.
3. **Explore Alternative Settings**: In addition to motion blur, consider tweaking other visual settings like field of view, brightness, and contrast to optimize your gaming experience. Every player is unique, so don’t be afraid to customize the settings to your liking.
### Final Thoughts
Ultimately, the decision to use or avoid motion blur is a personal one. Whether you love it or loathe it, remember that the most important thing is to prioritize your comfort and enjoyment while gaming. So, next time you fire up a new game, take a moment to review the settings and tailor them to your preferences. With a bit of experimentation and adjustment, you can create a gaming environment that enhances your experience and keeps you coming back for more. Happy gaming! 🕹️👾
Hate it. One of the things I look for when starting a game, so I can turn it off.
Motion blur always goes off if it’s an option.
The only time I don’t mind it is when it’s implemented as a result of the art style of a game as an exaggerated stylistic choice.
Sometimes a little adds to the art direction of the game. Most of the time not.
First setting after vibration i turn off if i can in every game
It only ever looks good in rare screen shots. Always turn it off.
Yes.
Yes
I always turn it off.
No motion blurr, no head bobbing in my house.
Only game I’ve seen it used to make the game look better was Jedi: Fallen Order.
Motion Blur: Off
Film Grain: Off
Why? I just don’t like these effects.
I like it when it is small and subtle. Where you don’t even notice it until it’s gone.
Doom 2016 on Switch is a great example of motion blur done right.
Not a fan. First thing I turn off.
Whole screen motion blur is cancer, per pixel and per object motion blur is fine. Watch this, it explains the difference amazingly well: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXIrSTMgJ9s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXIrSTMgJ9s)
Chromatic aberration can go and die in a ditch tho.
Unless it’s very subtle it actually makes me feel a bit sick for some reason. I always turn it off.
Motion blur always off.
Also if I’m tweaking graphics, I turn off all post processing, lighting, etc. Just put textures to high and AA.
If the game looks good like that, just dated, then I know there’s hope.
If the game looks terrible like that, then I know nothing else will make it look good.
I’m looking at you AC.
I’m with you. Subtitles always on, motion blur always off.
I don’t even mind other “film relics” like film grain or lense flair, but motion blur is just horrifically ugly and hasn’t ever served a purpose other than nausea.
For frame rates less than 60, camera motion blur is a godsend, otherwise it doesn’t add much
Object motion blur, however, is always awesome
I keep it on only in racing games to feel the sense of speed without motion blur most racing games feel slow. But in FPS or other action games I turn it off
Depends. On weapon maybe. But on whole screen? No I like smoothness, and blur makes things… Kinda uneven when turning around.
I hate motion blur and I also hate how so many TV shows are currently using blur. Like in the new shogun TV series it’s so distracting and annoying.
It depends how it’s implemented. If its all camera movements then no because I don’t want my screen to be smeary. If it’s object movement based motion blur I’ll have it on since it makes fast movements, like a sword swing, look nicer to me.
Hell no it´s utter shit and should be illegal to have in games today.
I had a few games where I turned it off, then got a really good screen and it made me a little sick not having it, and I couldnt see things properly when panning my camera so I turned it back on and it helped with both, but this is probably like 2 games max the rest I think I have it off or dont even notice its on
No . It only covering low fps shit
Never.
Always on in singleplayer games, absolutely. Same goes for film grain, lens flares and chromatic aberration. These effects replicate the way real-life lenses behave and better immerse me in the game. Film grain also helps reduce color banding, so that’s a nice bonus.
Multiplayer games with PvP? Everything off. Minimum graphics, highest possible framerate.
Only in 30 fps modes on console
No. Every game has it turned ok by default and I turn it off every time. I think everyone I know does the same thing.
The only time I ever have it on is if its a 30fps game, which is rare nowadays
My checklist for stuff to pretty much always turn off;
Motion Blur,
Film Grain,
And Depth of Field.
Edit: oh, and for things to turn on or change;
Subtitles on, and sound settings tuned. For example, some games (like Forza Horizon and Horizon forbidden west) have preset sound profiles depending on if you’re using headphones or speakers.
Motion blur = motion sickness. Wish it was default off in every games settings
Motion Blur makes me feel a bit sick, it never used to affect me but as I have gotten older it makes me feel sick.
