Why do some people choose to skip over the top results on Google, even if they meet their search criteria, just because they’re ads? #SearchBehavior #DigitalMarketing
Yep. Generally it’s not what I want anyways.
Yes, I scroll right past everything that says “sponsored”.
I do avoid it, mostly because they have, a couple times, redirected me to phishing sites.
Yeah because a while back people were scamming people I can’t remember how they did it but they was using adds as real websites
Absolutely, it’s like a mini rebellion against the system! Dodging those top ad results feels like outsmarting the internet, even if we end up clicking on them sometimes by accident.
I do.
That’s why I stopped using google
Yes definitely! They can be links to website lookalikes that scammers setup, so I always try to stay away from the first few sponsored ones!
The one *below* the ads is the top result though.
The ads used to be more clearly differentiated but they’ve been changing them to be more dishonest and look closer to “regular” results to get more clicks.
Ads are not what I want, so yes I purposely avoid them.
Yes! No sponsored anything. Look beyond.
Yes
No, I purposely click them to give Google revenue.
Never click the ad. I want the real #1.
I always cklick on all of them, especially for companies i don’t like. Its not much, but it still costs them.
Totally
If it says sponsored I don’t click on it
No, because I am happy that this service is there and they deserve to earn money with that.
But I take extra care that it is really the best result for me.
The people answering here are medium to heavy internet users/shoppers that know how to find what they need. The people that are not answering click the top link that comes up.
But the real question is;
Which link do you click when the only sponsored ad is also the top organic search result?
If it’s the result I want and I don’t like the company I’m searching I’ll intentionally click the sponsored link so they have to pay Google a few schmeckles.
My network ad blocker (pi-hole) doesn’t even let me click on them, it’s excellent.
Absolutely.
Wouldn’t know what they are most times as I go right past em. Most of them I have seen aren’t what I wanted. Just annoying.
Yes.
Almost always.
Don’t click on that sponsored crap.
Younger folks: is avoiding ads a generational thing? I’m a millennial and I refuse to click all ads out of principle. Do those younger than me click on ads if they seem interesting?
People still use google?
I just use an ad blocker – never even see them.
Why let them win?
