#Help #EducationLeaveGoneWrong #EmployerTroubles
So, picture this – you’re a broke college student who is super excited to study abroad. Your employers cheer you on, let you go on education leave, and assure you that your job will be waiting for you when you return. Fast forward a few months, you reach out to your employer to resume your position only to find out that they believe you resigned weeks into your study abroad without even telling you. Whaaaat?!
I mean, come on, that’s like a plot twist in a soap opera. You have proof of being approved for your study abroad and you’re still in all the business emails, yet they’re claiming you quit? It’s shady and feels like a soft firing, doesn’t it?
Now, here you are, jobless in a foreign country, feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under you. You don’t want to screw them over, but what are your options? Can you report them somewhere? Can you do anything at all?
Let’s brainstorm, share some advice, or just commiserate together. After all, we’re all in this crazy working world together, right? So, what do you think? #StayOrSue? #LegalAdviceNeeded? #ShareYourThoughts?
Let’s dive into this together! š¤š
Do you work/live in an “at will” state?
Has the business said there are no jobs available there?
If they still like you, use them as references and ask for recommendations or referrals from anyone you’re close to.
Then figure out what you want to do and start applying.
Ask them to send you a copy of the resignation communication from that date.
They can’t afford you taking that much time off and just put it down that you resigned. Small jobs like that just can’t work the same as big corporations. They have to move on and hire someone to replace you.
Sue them. š¤”You funny OP. In most states you can be fired for farting in the wrong direction. What works you live in thinking you can disappear for 5 months and still have a job?
