#TechBurnout #CareerChange #FullStackDeveloper #BurnedOut
Hey everyone! 👋 I’ve been a full stack dev for almost 2 years now and I’m feeling majorly burnt out. It’s tough being the sole responsibility for 5 products while also working under a senior architect on 2 more. I’ve hit a wall and I’m seriously considering a career change. Any advice on what my next steps could be? Here’s a bit more context:
– I’ve been in help desk and sys admin roles for 10 years prior to this
– I’m feeling overwhelmed by the technical aspect and the constant need to keep up with everything
Possible Solutions:
– Consider transitioning into a project management role, leveraging your technical background to lead development teams
– Explore opportunities in technical writing or training, utilizing your expertise to educate others
– Look into UX/UI design, where your understanding of technology can be combined with a more creative outlet
I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this! Let’s help each other out in navigating through burnout and finding fulfilling career paths in tech. 💡🚀
should have started looking yesterday bro.
i haven’t even started my new role yet and i know i’ll hate it. but after getting laid off, i had no other options. i’m starting in 2 weeks and i plan to continue interviewing
you should b interviewing by now
As others have said, look for a new role.
Take a vacation, don’t write yourself off as hating tech in general. Being owner of 5+ products / services is NOT the norm for a junior. Depending on the service / project size, a senior should own 1-3 services.
Rule of thumb: a good junior should own features, not services.
