#CareerAdvice #Fired #HRBP #WorkConflict
Hey everyone, I could really use some advice right now. Just got fired from my HRBP position in manufacturing and I’m completely blindsided.
Here’s the situation:
– Two managers I supported couldn’t get along and it led to me getting fired
– Tried to mediate and find a resolution, but no luck
– Director of manufacturing visited and firing me was part of the agenda
Now I’m left wondering, what do I do next?
Possible solutions I’m considering:
– Seeking legal advice to understand my rights
– Updating my resume and LinkedIn profile
– Reaching out to my network for job leads
Have you ever been in a similar situation? Any advice on how to handle being fired? Your input would be greatly appreciated! 💼✨
What did the Director give you as the reason you were being terminated?
That’s horrible I’m so sorry. In the future, I hope you see this as a blessing in disguise because it sounds like your manager is weak.
That is horrible.
Sounds like you got out of a toxic environment. Not your fault. Take it and learn. Good luck.
I’m also learning that HR is very relationship oriented work. You have to have everyone like you doesn’t matter if you’re competent or not. I’m in this situation right now as well. I’m competent in my role everyone knows I’m good at what I do. Sorry you had a manager go out of their way to get you fired when you wanted to protect them. Stuff like this makes me disinterested in HR.
While I don’t have proof per say, I believe my new lead tried to include me in layoffs earlier this year. I’ve never received an official warning on my performance. I’ve never received guidance on what to fix until I highlighted it in my performance review. The sr. lead tried to show a very different story that they were this benevolent being and have given me multiple chances to correct my behavior when I didn’t even know what I was doing wrong.
My time may be coming to an end with my current company soon but luckily I’ve already been planning on leaving anyways so it won’t be a shock if I get the axe. I’ve done what I can to share the supposed progress. I basically have to reprove myself and my dedication to the job after already doing it. It’s fucking stupid.
The irony is that I’ve had a good performance this year and the things I shouldn’t get wrong, I don’t… That way there’s no actual case for me to be let go. That being said, I’m sure I’ll be in the layoffs even if I pass my PIP.
Had the same experience just 2 years ago- October 2022. You are going to come out on the other side stronger, wiser, and a better employee for it- lick your wounds, take a few days to cry and anguish and then get back to it. Within a few weeks I had a role temporary role and now 2 years later I have a fantastic job I love with the wisdom to help me be a success. Happy to chat if you want to dm. Here for you my friend.
Im so sorry! This stinks! Get online and apply for unemployment today.
I’m also in manufacturing, this just sounds like a toxic ass setup from the top to the bottom. That’s some scapegoating right there. You shouldn’t have to referee adults and typically our job is to be neutral, if you took a side, then it’s just making it all that much worse. Yuck.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. This is a confidence shaker kind of loss.
Wow, I’m appalled on your behalf. That is the crazy part about being a hrbp. You can’t make adults play nice, but they will blame you for it not happening. What the company will see eventually is the disfunction that continues to erupt from those teams all the while they will be short someone in the strategic space. When they hire another hrbp who runs into the same issue, they will realize it wast you and will spend a lot of time, money, and lost opportunity correcting. Something better is out there for you, but sorry, this is your experience now.
Do you do payroll? Someone posted here a couple days ago in the recruitment sub and they were looking for a payroll specialist, fully remote. I can find the person if you are interested.
Similar happened to me in May , unemployment was approved due to there being no write up in the past. Sorry this happened to you. The worse part is the feeling that sinks in the first week or so after you reminisce the stuff you did for them.
