Hey everyone! 😊
I’m reaching out because I could really use some guidance after a pretty tough situation at work. Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s been happening:
- I transitioned from my role as an admin in property management back in May and jumped into a leasing position at a retail corporation that has nearly 200 stores.
- Unfortunately, after just two months, I was let go yesterday.
- Honestly, I felt set up for failure from the start! There was zero training or guidance offered, and I was drowning in reconciling accounts from two years ago!
- To make matters worse, a colleague who started at the same time quit just three weeks in, which was a clear sign of how chaotic things were.
- When I was called in for the termination, I was told “it’s not working out” with no constructive feedback or clear goals. There’s even a guy in the same role who seems to do whatever he likes—taking two-hour lunches without any consequences!
Now, I find myself feeling lost and overwhelmed. 😞 Here’s where I could use your advice:
- Can I still apply for unemployment?
- Are there any complaints I should consider filing?
- Is it reasonable to think about switching to a different career industry?
I’m in the midst of closing this chapter and could really use some wisdom and support from those who might have been through similar experiences.
Have you ever been in a situation like this? What steps did you take to bounce back? Any tips or stories you’d like to share? I’m open to all kinds of advice. Thanks so much for your help! 💬
Yes
Apply for unemployment now. Do not wait. Collect your money and look for a new job. It happens to everyone.
Apply for unemployment. You have no basis to file a complaint with anyone. Look for another job. Personally I’d apply for property management and leasing and anything else you can find, it can be hard out there.
It’s not worth it to file a complaint, most states are at will meaning they can terminate for any reason except discriminatory with or without cause. The company is disorganized, be happy that this happened now rather than later. File unemployment and keep applying for positions that align with your long term goals.
Start looking for another job. It sucks but dust yourself off and try again.
For get filing a complaint and get your unemployment and start looking for something better. Good luck! You got this!
