I’m Beyond Fed Up. 🤬
Hey everyone, can we talk about the struggle of finding a job in today’s market? It’s been a wild ride for me, and I know I’m not alone in feeling like I’m hitting my head against a brick wall. Let’s vent together and share our experiences.
Here are a few points that have been driving me insane:
– Constant rejection after putting in so much effort
– Being told I’m overqualified for roles I know I could excel in
– Dealing with misleading job postings on LinkedIn
But hey, I’m not one to dwell on the negatives. Here are a couple of solutions I’ve been considering that might help us all out:
– Networking: Reaching out to contacts in your industry or joining professional groups can open up new opportunities.
– Upskilling: Taking online courses or certifications can make you stand out to potential employers.
– Tailoring applications: Customize your resume and cover letter to each job you apply for instead of sending out generic ones.
Let’s share our thoughts and advice, and maybe we can help each other navigate this rough job market. Who’s with me? 💪🏼
>Does anyone else feel like they’re being strung along in this never-ending job hunt from hell?
Yep. I feel powerless and trapped.
Yeah dude just join the army and get blown up. At least that’s the advice I’ve been getting.
Pizza delivery is the way to go at this point. It is what everyone is doing near me that just graduated college
No advice to give because I’m feeling the same things as you do. This job market is whackadoodle. I’m four months into job searching and unemployment, and I haven’t seen a light at the end of the tunnel. All darkness.
Well I had interview that they expect me to know their product before I join them . And it is a tech role lol
Most of the grads i see are either neeting, underemployed or prostituting themselves off for survival. Fyi i am from Canada
How did they take the job offer away? Interested in knowing more so I can prepare. Told i’m getting a job offer in a few days.
I’m in the same boat. I’ve been applying for over a year and only managed like 3 interviews. Got good reviews each time, but never a job. I’m so tired of it, like, how is this even happening?
If possible take a time out of the job market for a couple of years. Voluntary sector. Doubt things are going to pick up until 2028+.
In my 20+ years I’ve never seen so much fkd up biases and failed leadership to the point I’m angry enough to run for president. I’ve spent 20+ years from criminal retail investigations (mass scale with high sensitive cases), to start ups, global supply chain sales, to senior operations and management for 10+ years. Now at 40 I’ve already faced several layoffs, did well in some ventures, lost money from some risks, it’s been one hell of an experience.
But I never thought I’d be frozen with management / being interviewed / despite all these experiences and intelligence gained over the years.
In the underworld
Private equity is really shaking stuff up, and they can be ruthless
Which no one wants to talk about
So much corporate gaslighters out there and it’s unfortunate because those who lack kinesic intelligence don’t know how to interpret that or break it down.
You said it exactly! Eager to learn, and wanting to work! Considered overqualified, sorry we can’t hire you for that job. Does someone actually want to take the time to train a person who applied to a job because they wanted to work there at the time? Oh you look too smart to work here. You want a job where you can learn how to make coffee for other people? Sorry you seem like the person who would ask other people to make coffee for you.
FTW…
Need to rewrite the resume so you do not sound overqualified, but qualified enough! You may just have to accept a lower position and pay cut from what you are used to.
Unfortunately this is just the times, there is a lot of competition and u have to be competitive.
I am in exactly the same situation
It is a strange job market at many levels. I am fairly far along in my tech career and have had limited responses in an area where I am in a small pool of qualified people. I had multiple rounds of interviews with a large tech firm (I’m looking to move back from startups to a bigger company) and went through about 7 rounds, which took 5 months! Last interview was with someone at the C level, things went well then total silence. My recruiter won’t return emails or phone calls and I never heard anything back even after talking about salary, starting date ect. Totally bizarre.
I’m a recruiter and we’re being jerked around by clients. I have to put assistant candidates through five or six interviews and a test and then a panel interview, then the client ghosts us or says they’re reconsidering filling the position. It blows.
I stopped counting the rejections. I apply so much I can’t remember who I applied to. Pages and pages.
