Hey there, fellow hustlers! 👋 Have you managed to break free from the 9-5 grind and are now earning the same or even higher? If so, I want to know your secrets! Share your wisdom with the rest of us who are still on that journey to financial independence.
So, what are you doing to make it happen? Here are a few ideas to get the discussion going:
– Are you freelancing in a high-demand industry?
– Have you started your own online business?
– Did you invest in real estate or the stock market?
– Are you monetizing a passion project or side hustle?
Let’s inspire each other and help those who are still striving to reach the same level of success. After all, sharing is caring! 💪💡
You’re born into generational wealth where your allowance from Papa exceeds the pay you get at your 9-5. You also didn’t like slumming it in the dorms and moved off campus to luxury college housing. From there you meet someone of similar socio-economic status. You both marry and the generational wealth allowance continues, family buys you a home that is placed in the family REIT and life is on easy mode.
Otherwise you’re just meat for the machine, grinding away until you die, maybe you have some kids so they can suffer too!

If you want to break free and don’t come from money, your only option is to start a business on the side with little to no capitol and work your ass off to get it off the ground, nurture it with your own money and free time, and eventually you’ll be able to leave the 9-5.
But you have to have the courage to bet on yourself and take a risk and it will require sacrifice.
I work on a ship. I do 2 weeks on 2 weeks off every month. Usually work 10-13 hours a day when I’m at work but I get half the year off. With an additional 25 days I can take off annually. I can take an entire trip off and be home for 6 weeks straight. Should make about 80k this year. Hopefully closer to 95k next year.
Started my own business
My opinion is 9-5 is honestly ideal.
I came from retail (nights, holidays, weekends, 10 hour shifts, never knowing your schedule more than a week or so in advance), to a 9-5 and my life has significantly changed for the better.
I have also known a couple of small business owners. 1 failed after years of pouring time and money into it. The other put probably 50-60+ hours in a week at all times of the day and retired not much better off than someone who could simply save well.
Apply to any job you wish to have, lie as much as you can and fake it till you make it.
Higher, 150% more. Left my paralegal job and now teach attorneys how practice my area of law because it is so unique. I work my own schedule, from home mostly unless im going to their office to brief them or review a case thats different the norm, and have infinitely better qol.
I’m a prostitute… $300 an hour
Why do people even say 9-5 anymore. It’s been 8-5 for quite some time now.
I started a technology services company 7 years ago. Before that I was a VP with a big company. I would say there are three levels of compensation from ownership:
1. Getting to the point where you are able to pay yourself what you made previously. I didn’t pay myself profit at this point, only a salary. The profit went back into making the business successful and growth.
2. Getting to the point where you are able to get a salary and some profit, paying yourself more than you used to make.
3. THE MOST IMPORTANT LEVEL. If you’ve invested enough back into the company and have made it profitable, continuously growing, and have set up the company so it is attractive to buyers thus increasing your selling price (multiplier), then you can sell the company for more than you had ever planned. The amount I will sell my company for (knock on wood) is more than # 1 and 2 combined.
Hope this helps.
My cousin went out on her own and opened her own Architecture firm.
She works for herself, makes her own hours and earns a little more than when she worked for a firm.
Now she got lucky and found her first client by sheer accident and from there her name spread via word of mouth, but she is lucky, most folks don’t get that lucky.
