“Looking for Junior Sales People – Any Tips on Finding Candidates with Little to No Experience?”
Hi there! I’m an intern in recruiting and my goal is to find junior sales people for an entry-level position. Do you have any tips on where to find candidates with limited experience, like a sociable person who may have worked as a waiter? We provide sales coaching in the first few weeks so experience isn’t necessary.
Search Keywords: junior sales people, entry-level position, recruiting, limited experience, waiter, sales coaching, tips
Filters on LinkedIn: When searching on LinkedIn, consider using filters like location, industry, and keywords related to sales roles.
Unorthodox ways of finding candidates: Think outside the box by networking at local events, joining industry-specific groups on social media, or reaching out to universities for potential candidates.
What other strategies have worked for you in finding candidates for entry-level sales roles? Let’s discuss in the comments!

Referrals. Everyone knows someone who’s a waiter or works in retail. Find 1-2 and they’ll refer everyone they know.
job posting for lower level rolls typically get more applications that are a fit
if you using LinkedIn recruiter, sort by people with less than 5 years of experience and you should find some soon to graduate college kids with business degrees
Indeed and Handshake have been better places to source applications for me at that level
Look at solar companies, college grads who did phone-a-thons/school fundraising, charismatic athletes.
Also, something that is an HR no-no but a “no fucking duh” in recruiting is you look for attractive people.
Insight Global, one of the largest recruiting companies, literally hires hot blondes for like 90% of their roles and it fucking works b/c they go to sell to nerd IT managers who salivate over the attention of a attractive woman.
Same goes for handsome men, if your target buyers are women- one of our reps looks like a male model and has literally been groped by HR managers(on multiple occasions by different people) and taken to meetings at very risque- themed places by middle aged female clients
Do your sales people go door to door or stand inside big box retailers selling internet and phone plans?
Target fresh college grads! Most school websites will have a convocation programme with a nice list of names
Some of the car rental shops have amazing programs and turn out great sales people. Also, don’t sleep on those Best Buy sales people. The best car salesperson, by a long shot, that I ever worked with learned how to see by working at Best Buy.
