I’ve never been much a B2C marketer, but it’s a constant that the great majority of potential buyers is not in the market.
You need to be there when they are, or they need to think about you when they’re thinking about it.
This all is tactical: intent ads on Google search, radio, magazine prints, HOA newsletter, flyers, local tv ads,,… be everywhere your audience will and as long your budget can cover it.
That kind of work is usually shared through Word of Mouth. So I’d recommend go door to door couple of times and say: ‘hey do you need cleaning?’ (Some dude was doing this only so they can record and put on social media).
Try to partner up. Think about with whom your audience interacts, maybe there is a thread you can use.
Ultimate advice is to really think and understand your audience, how they buy, how they behave when they have a problem you solve – and the path will present itself.
Craigslist posting
B2C marketer here. Wishing you all the best, and here are some ideas to advertise without spending any more cash:
– Facebook neighbourhood groups (as far as you can travel) -> show some examples of clients’ results (before and after, side by side) and ask if anyone happens to need pressure washing services. Images matter, and people don’t like overly sales-y posts. Can caveat that you run the business, and you have a first-timer promotion if anyone is keen (in the comments, not post itself)
Note: Avoid all the sales-specific groups (unless it’s a neighbourhood marketplace- that could work out!), you’ll get nothing but other businesses there. Customers generally won’t look to those groups to find stuff since they’ll prefer word-of-mouth or recommendations from peers.
– WhatsApp neighbourhood groups (not sure how many people congregate in WhatsApp groups in the US, but can be an effective method too) -> ask if anyone needs a pressure clean, and show pictures of results. Let them know that you offer a first-timer promotion if they’re interested and send them a personal message about the promotion (the key is to get the customer to reach out so you’re in their phone saved as ‘XX pressure wash’ when they finally need the service).
– Walk around, ring doorbells and just ask face-to-face when they last had a pressure clean (make them think, if they’ve never done it before or don’t care about it, then they’re not an ideal customer. If they’ve done it before or recently, then they’re easier to convert) -> ask them for their number to send them a promotion for their first wash if they’re keen (assure them that it’s no pressure and they don’t need to reply if they’re not keen). The promo and message will always stay in their phone, so they might chance upon it shortly after again.
