#WhatToSayToSomeoneFilmingInTheGym
#GymEtiquette
#RespectfulCommunication
Hey there! 👋 Are you also dealing with someone in the gym who’s always filming and making you feel uncomfortable? It can definitely be frustrating when you’re just trying to get your workout in without feeling like you’re constantly being watched or recorded. But don’t worry, I’ve got some helpful tips on what to say to someone filming in the gym while still being respectful and considerate.
First off, it’s important to remember that everyone has different boundaries and comfort levels when it comes to being on camera. While some people may not mind being in the background of someone’s gym vlog, others may feel really uncomfortable with the idea. So, here are a few things you can consider when approaching the situation:
## Understanding the Situation
Before approaching the individual, it’s important to consider a few factors that could be influencing their filming behavior:
– Is the person a content creator or influencer who regularly films at the gym?
– Are they causing any disruptions or blocking equipment with their filming setup?
– Have they received any complaints from other gym-goers or staff about their filming habits?
By understanding the context of the situation, you can approach the conversation with more empathy and understanding.
## Approach the Individual
When it comes to addressing the issue with the person filming in the gym, it’s essential to do so in a respectful and non-confrontational manner. Here are a few steps you can take:
1. Choose the Right Time: Find a moment when the person is not in the middle of filming or working out, and approach them in a friendly and non-threatening manner.
2. Be Polite and Respectful: Start the conversation by acknowledging their presence in the gym and expressing your concerns in a calm and respectful way.
3. Offer a Solution: Instead of just telling them to stop filming, consider offering alternative solutions, such as adjusting their camera angle to avoid capturing other gym-goers or finding a designated filming area within the gym.
## Sample Dialogue
Here’s an example of how you could approach the situation:
“Hey there! I noticed that you like to film your workouts here at the gym, and I totally respect that. I just wanted to let you know that I sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable being in the background of your videos. Would it be possible for you to adjust your camera angle to avoid capturing me in the shot? I really appreciate your understanding.”
## Seek Assistance from Gym Staff
If you’re uncomfortable or hesitant about approaching the person directly, consider reaching out to the gym staff for assistance. They can help communicate the gym’s policies on filming and may be able to address the issue without causing any tension.
## Emphasize Mutual Respect
Ultimately, the key to addressing the situation is to emphasize mutual respect and understanding. By approaching the individual with kindness and offering potential solutions, you can create a positive and respectful dialogue that benefits both parties.
By following these tips and approaching the situation with empathy and consideration, you can effectively communicate your concerns about someone filming in the gym while maintaining a respectful and friendly atmosphere for everyone. Remember, clear and open communication is key to resolving any issue in a respectful manner. Good luck! 🏋️♂️
Tag Joey Swoll in her videos?
First try, talk to her.
Second try, talk to the gym employees.
Third try, fuck the peace sign, keep interrupting her videos. What’s she gonna do, hit you? Trash takes itself out…
Tell the Gym when you cancel your membership why they suck. Stare at her the whole time she’s filming and clap, laugh and sigh like you are part of her studio audience. Or just run around in the background like a nut, the way kids do behind the news crew reporters.
I would just walk through her shot and not give 2 fucks.
Have a look at Robert Frank’s videos, might give you some inspiration.
I’m glad my gym has a policy against this.
I would be just a dick and walk in front of it every 5 mins. Preferably when i need to fart so its also caught on film.
tell the manager. many gyms have a no camera policy.
Go on TeePublic and make yourself a shirt that says in giant letters “YOUR YOUTUBE/TIKTOK CHANNEL SUCKS” then make sure you’re in every shot.
Nothing. Go to the manager and report them. If the gym actually allows it then find a new gym, making sure they know the reason why you’re leaving.
One time while at an outside fitness spot at the park i was messing around after just working an overnight double shift and did some pullups. i noticed this in shape guy filming me as a way to show his followers what not to do(i was basically fooling around doing half reps just being silly trying to relieve some work stress). he came over, didn’t say a word and tried to embarrass me by going on the bar next to me and doing pull ups with his shirt off. i hopped down purposely walked in front of his camera(set up on a tripod) walked back over to the bar, did a few muscle ups, with some funny faces and loud exaggerated noises. he stopped, moved his camera and did other exercises.
depends on the gym. 24 hour fitness for example prohibits all photography or filming or recordings of others at the gym without permission. same with lifetime fitness gyms. so ask if your gym has a policy against recording others and instead of confronting the influencer just tell the staff you are not comfortable with it and if they allow that sort of thing. if they do you may want to find a new gym.
Complain to staff, see if they can set up a rule of no filming in the gym!
Considering how many wannabe influencers there are harassing people for looking at them or walking in front of their cameras. I honestly feel like that should be a rule for all gyms!
Get your shortest shorts and do some slow RDLs right in the shot
I used to work at a gym some years back. We had a no photography/video policy, and it was great. The satisfaction I felt every time I had to go tell some useless attention seeking b**ch to put her crap away was rewarding. I think all gyms should have this policy.
Gen Z gym culture is so……narcissistic
I swear this whole “main character syndrome” thing has gotten out of control.
I’ve seen videos on the internet of girls recording themselves then later editing their own videos reacting to their OWN WORKOUT and shaming men in the background so are starting at them calling them creeps.
When they’re not starting at the girl but simply staring at the ridiculous thing she is doing by recording herself.
like how self indulgent can one be?
There was a post on the petty revenge sub recently about a person having the same problem. He started just walking through her shot a lot, very politely, saying excuse me every time. Other patrons caught on and started doing the same thing, sometimes taking the long way around the gym just to make sure they walk between her and the camera. It bothered her so much she just left.
As long as you’re polite, and doing something (getting new weights, returning weights, moving to a new machine…) you won’t look like an asshole. If she posts the video or complains about you walking through the shot it’s just gonna get her roasted in the comments.
Ask if the gym has a no camera policy. If it does ask them to enforce it. If it doesn’t let they know why you’re cancelling your membership and find one that does. Problem solved.
Wave awkwardly at the camera every chance you get.
She will either get aggravated and delete and move on, or you’ll become the star of her Instagram.
Either way, you win.
Just say: “you know, people pay good money to see me this naked”
Reach out to Joey Swoll.
Absolutely do not talk to her. She’ll edit the video to make you look bad.
Talk to the manager and then leave it.
Get your own bigger setup and film right next to her. Something noisy. Maybe a full quiz show that other gym members can compete in and win prizes.
Tell the staff that you are not comfortable going to a gym where you will be filmed. Point out that almost everyone else in the gym feels the same way. Let them choose if they want to lose the one customer who is filming or all their other customers.
It should be a policy that recording in gyms is not permitted.
Play commercial music on your speakerphone then she won’t be able to monetise her videos.
I know it’s a dick move but she started it…
Don’t say anything to her. Say it to the gym and make it official. Write a letter saying you do NOT consent to any filming, advertising, social media, etc. It will be part of your original contract for certain, but you didn’t agree to be part of members’ social media. Make sure to have the letter state that you hold the gym responsible for any recording that happens on the premises. I would go as far as to print N copies and discretely distribute them to anyone interested, or you can make a petition. At the end of the day the gym will have to decide what’s less of a hassle, dealing with consent issues or making it a camera-free gym.
Good luck.
Where shirts that say ” Taiwan is a country ” or ” fuck the CCP ”
Tik tok will take down all videos with you in it
