Hey everyone! I am thrilled to share that after years of hard work and dedication, I have officially become an Operations Software Support Engineer! ๐๐ป It’s been quite the journey to get here, but I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
Here are some key takeaways from my experience that might benefit others on a similar path:
– Don’t be afraid to take on new challenges and roles within your company. You never know where it might lead!
– Seek out mentors and opportunities for growth, even if they’re not explicitly offered to you.
– Show initiative and a willingness to learn – it can truly set you apart in your career.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and support from my company, and I am determined to continue proving that I am capable of excelling in this role. If you’re also striving for career advancement without a traditional background, know that it’s possible with hard work and perseverance. Keep pushing forward! ๐ช๐

Congrats!
Donโt worry you have just as much right to call yourself an engineer as any other software engineer (considering most only have a cs degree and not an engineering degree).
Congrats ๐ฅณ
Congrats! As someone ten years ahead of you, hereโs the advice I wish I knew back then:
* read The Phoenix Project and apply the Theory of Constraints to everything at work
* as hard as it is to accept, merit is an illusion in this industry. There are people in denial about that until reality slaps them in the face, which it eventually almost always does. People do drugs to get ahead. Companies discriminate against you when youโre older. Cheaper labor replaces talented labor. Someone quitting is more likely to lead you to a promotion than working hard. People game the system.
* due to compound interest, having more money at the beginning invested makes way more money over the long term than high income does
* you are not your job. Donโt lose yourself in it
* most of all, congratulations and welcome to the community.
