SHRMCertification #PassedMySHRMCP #HRExamExperience #HRCommunity
Just passed my SHRM-CP exam 🎉! Not gonna lie, I was sweating bullets during the test 😅. Now, looking back, I wanna share my journey to hopefully help other aspiring HR professionals mentally prepare for what’s to come.
Here’s a quick rundown of my experience:
- Background: HR Manager with 2.5 years of experience, total of 10 years in various roles. Even took a break to become a jeweler for a bit 💍!
- Study materials: Used Pocket Prep and bits of the All-In-One Exam Guide (2nd Edition). Spent around 30 hours studying.
- Test insights: Lots of situational judgement questions, not many on labor laws. Had one curveball question on FMLA and plenty on strategic planning that caught me off guard.
Possible solution:
- Study strategically: Focus on not just the basics but also on strategic HR planning.
- Seek diverse study resources: Mix up your study materials to get a well-rounded prep.
- Time management: Make sure to schedule your study time effectively, especially if you have other commitments like a little one at home 👶.
Remember, everyone’s experience is different but sharing can help us all learn and grow together! If you’ve got any tips or questions, drop them below 👇. Congratulations to all those who passed, and to those still preparing – you’ve got this! 🌟 #HRjourney #SHRMStudyTips #HRProfessionals.
This is literally the post I was going to make today. I passed the SHRM-SCP yesterday after hundreds of hours of studying the SHRM Learning System, BASK, Pocket Prep, flash cards, and little books of my notes I made myself to read at night. All of it useless. Completely useless. I’ve also watched dozens of hours of all those YouTubers who have thankful comments about how those YouTubers helped them pass. Now I know that was all a scam. On those YouTubes, they show you all of these situational questions that have one obvious answer if you apply even a smidge of test strategy. The actual test isn’t like that. There are 3.5 good answers, and half the time I went back and chose the answer that I had initially crossed out as dumb. All of those situational practice questions were so much more straighforward than the actual test. If I could do it all again, I wouldn’t take SHRM. I would take the PHR or something less abstract and save myself the heart attack. Oh, and the lady at the test center told me that I was the only one that has passed at that testing center in our big city THIS YEAR…. omg. That’s how you know a test is broken.
People keep asking me if I’m proud of myself. I don’t feel proud. I feel traumatized by this test and simply lucky that I passed.
