Not exactly what you asked, but I can tell you that in my long and stupid life, I have accidentally eaten undercooked chicken at least a dozen times. I’m talking like “why is this shit so chewy?” levels of raw in some cases. I never got sick and unless you’re really unlucky I doubt you will either.
Theres a guy on instagram ‘rawchickenexperiment’ that posts daily videos of himself eating raw chicken and hes up to day 83 last i checked without getting sick.
Your ‘friend’ will be fine
To die? Not long
Eating raw or undercooked meat can drastically increase your CHANCES of obtaining a fun new food borne illness. So technically nothing is guaranteed to happen, but the likelihood of something happening is definitely higher.
About 6 hours. I was put in charge of frying the wings at a football watch party. I was drunk and had never fried frozen wings before. Fast forward a lil and my drunk ass ate 3-4 wings before one of my friends notified me they were raw on the inside. I got very sick for a couple of days, coming out both ends. In the end I was no worse for the wear, and bonus no one asks me to man the fryer anymore.
Meh, you’re probably fine.
Not raw but bad airport chicken – 3hr layover was just enough to have it start and 5hrs of puking in the lap of my seat neighbor across the country
Like a day. I shit violently and puked for an entire week. I brought a blanket into the bathroom and slept there because I was getting up every few minutes to expel and had no energy to move from my room to the bathroom every time.
Food poisoning will hit you the same day. Not all raw chicken is contaminated and will not always cause food poisoning
I got sick within the day. Terrible experience.
But there’s always a chance you don’t get sick too
You get sick from chicken that has been sitting out at room temperature for a few hours, not just because it’s raw or undercooked.
Although, obviously, you can get sick on raw/undercooked as well.
Had a friend be sick for an entire week. Just a lot of diarrhea, luckily not much or any vomiting. It would have lasted longer if he hadn’t decided to get a prescription
Within hours I was sick as fuck. Like 6-12 hours and you’ll definitely know. Puking and shitting like you never puked or shit in your life. You’ll be sore from using muscles no amount of Jack Daniel’s or Taco Bell could ever activate.
I’ve been unlucky enough to get food poisoning about 5, maybe 6 times. The one time I could actually pinpoint what it was was actually a corndog I bought at a gas station when training in Wisconsin. That started giving me cramps within 4 hours. Super quick.
My last bought was salmonella. No idea where it came from. Hands down the worst I’ve been and the most pain. The pink foamy shits were fucked up.
But definitely within 12 hours I would think
1 in every 3 dead chickens has salmonella. Cook your bird.
I ate a chick raw. Does that count?
My sister’s bf eats his chicken “rare”. Meaning he’ll brown the outside for like a minute. I’m sure it’s still cold when he eats it. Definitely pink. He’s done it for years and says he’s never gotten sick from it. Whatever. I don’t trust the guy lol.
I had a friend, he ate raw chicken… It went to his thighs… and then he blew up. So sorry RIP @equal_afternoon5210 🥲🥲
I did this on accident once. About 4 hours after I felt like I had the worst gas ever but no actual gas. By hour 6 I knew I had fucked up and by hour 8 I was hugging a toilet. The good news is, like all things, it will pass if it does happen. Sip water now just in case.
Started the next day. I didn’t know it was raw/contaminated.
Heavy fever from salmonella, think 105. Fever wouldn’t break which eventually led to pancreatitis which got me hospitalized.
If you get sick don’t fuck around.
Within 12 hours. Sick, then fever. Then hospital for 5 days.
I’m praying for you😉
I saw a documentary about how the government disavows bacteria in chicken, and in the 60’s (?) when the laws were made, the laws stated that it was the responsibility of the housewife to protect her family from chicken bacteria.
Here is an interesting article about food and bacteria traced back from the 60’s.

I’m gonna need an update in 24-48 hours.
Baked some chicken breast in the oven. It was a crappy oven, it didn’t heat evenly. One of the fatter pieces obviously wasn’t thawed and didn’t cook through. I ate some of the well cooked chicken and, without realising, put the chicken that looked cooked, but was in fact raw, in my lunch box. It would have been warm on the outside, so I didn’t put it in the fridge right away, maybe left it for 40 mins, then put the lunch box in the fridge. Took the lunch box out of the fridge the next morning at about 6am and drive an hour and a half to my job. Put the chicken in the fridge. At about 12 I stuck the chicken in the microwave, but I don’t like my food too hot so I just earned it a little. It was a busy day on the job, and I was still working, running around the production line and was going to eat on the run. Maybe 15 mins after microwaved the chicken I grabbed it, cut a chunk off with one eye still on the machine that was running and started chewing.
The texture wasn’t right, but I was hungry, so I swallowed that first, big, raw chunk of partially cooked, cooled, refrigerated, unrefrigerated, re refrigerated, lightly microwaved chicken. Then I looked at the rest of the piece to see why it didn’t feel right in my mouth. It was raw, raw, raw.
I thought to myself “this is going to be a very interesting 24 hours”.
I was fine. Nothing. Nada. Zip. No problem.
So… Take from that what you will… And yes, I did eat the rest of the chicken, but I microwaved it to a cooked state first. I figured I had nothing to lose and I was hungry.
I had salmonella poisoning. It took a few weeks to get back to normal. Definitely go to the doctor
I once noticed after a few big bites that I was eating raw chicken. Basically had a sear on the outside. I ate half a thigh. I drank tons of water and didn’t feel sick at all.
I immediately got salmonella a few hours after. It was excruciating pain for 2 weeks straight, still painful for 6 weeks, definitely longer where I got some random pains sometimes
