Hey everyone! ๐ Have you ever found yourself in a job that just wasn’t the right fit from the start? Well, I need some advice on how to gracefully resign from a job I’ve only been in for two weeks. Here’s the situation:
– Just started a solar canvassing job that I quickly realized isn’t for me
– Facing a new schedule with long hours and unpaid breaks
– Not feeling motivated to even show up for work, considering leaving without notice
So, what do you think I should do in this situation? Here’s what I’m thinking:
– Consider sending a polite text to my boss explaining the situation and expressing my decision to resign
– Offer to drop off any company materials (like the vest) that need to be returned
– Apologize for any inconvenience caused by my sudden departure
Would love to hear your thoughts and any advice you have on how to handle this tricky situation. Thanks in advance for your help! ๐
Since you are only there two weeks, your probationary period isn’t over, therefore the clauses in your contract can be disputed.
Hand in a termination notice of immediate effect.
No job is worth your health.
“Hi boss. This isn’t working out, and I’m resigning the position. My last day will be XYZ. You can send my final paycheck and future correspondence to ABC. Thanks for the opportunity and best of luck.”
It’s not complicated.
You’re overthinking this. Just quit. You’re not going to be using them as a reference, you’re not even going to get two more weeks of working there as the manager will just say “today is your last day,” and you won’t ever be working there again.
2 weeks not a big deal “this isn’t working for me, so I’m going to resign. I appreciate the chance for both of us to test this out…”
I had one guy show up on day one and quit by day 2. Happens.
Text or call your boss as you noted and say “Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work here. I am resigning effective immediately”. Do not ask for a 2 week notice because you’re going to be sent home right away. No need to state why you are quitting. You won’t be the first or last to leave so soon after joing this job
I’m guessing you only get paid when you make a sale? Solar sales is a terrible racket for newcomers to the industry.
This is a junk job, they wonโt care
