No budget and they fear if they let him go or run him off they will loose the position. Get a new job. Sadly no money it departments are the death.
I had to work at a firm where the lead SysAdmin was also a know it all. What is it with SysAdmins who swear they are god’s gift to earth. Such a weird god complex just cause they can reset everyones passwords.
Anyways, I left that place after a year.
You do your job and just back your work with industry best practices. There are a lot of gatekeeper with outdated practices. They defend their practices because that is all they know and refusal to learn. Don’t take it personally. It’s highly likely the coworker will respond this way to any change.
Microsoft support isn’t the greatest, but it’s hard to beat their tech stack bundle for the price they sell it at. A lot of time, people blame their ineptitude on the product to rationize. It does suck to learn nowadays, cause their product update so fast compared to 10 years ago.
