Hey everyone! 😊
Just wanted to share a little something that happened to me today during my interview for a retail chain. So, here’s the scoop:
- I was on my way, all set for an amazing interview, when it hit me: I was headed to the wrong location! 😳
- I quickly pulled over, checked my maps, and realized that I needed to be somewhere else entirely.
- I frantically called the right location just 2 minutes before my scheduled interview time. I explained my mix-up to the hiring manager and assured them I would be there in 10 minutes.
- Once I arrived, I apologized again for the hiccup, and the hiring manager was super understanding, saying it’s happened to others before.
Now, about the interview itself:
- Outfit: I felt my outfit was really professional and appropriate for the retail environment.
- Answers: I had well-thought-out responses ready for their questions, which I was pretty proud of.
- Nerves: But I must admit, I was a bit nervous, and I think they picked up on that vibe. 😅
So, here I am, waiting to hear back next week, but my mind is racing and I really don’t want to overthink everything! 🤔
What do you all think of my little interview adventure? Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?
Would love to hear your tips or experiences! Sharing is caring, right? 💬
Thanks for reading!
I think you’ll probably be fine as long as they’re understanding. If they aren’t understanding of this type of issue then they probably aren’t the best to work for anyways, and you would have dodged a bullet. It’s a simple error, and you still showed up.
I’ve done this once as well… was very embarrassed, but I called and they understood. I’m sure you’ll be fine- people make honest mistakes.
Edit: meant to say I got the position after doing the same.
Good luck to you
At least you can now say you’ve mastered the art of adaptability—just make sure to bring that skill to the next interview!
Honestly, you called and told them and still showed up. I wouldn’t give it a second thought. They would have made it an issue if it was. You’re fine.
We have a row of multiple nursing facilities, not related to each other, along our road. Since the pandemic, all of healthcare seems short staffed. So we had someone scheduled for an interview and they never showed. An hour or so after they didn’t show up, the manager called the applicant and said “I was just wondering if you had changed your mind” (or whatever, she’s much more eloquent than I am lol). The applicant said “Um….I did show up. I met with so-and-so and toured the facility and they said you were unavailable?” It turns out that our neighboring facility stole our applicant and tried to hire her, when she showed up to the wrong facility!
