#HelpNeeded #OfficeDrama #AdultingIn40s
Hey there! 🙋♀️ Have you ever found yourself in a situation where your office team is acting like they’re back in high school, instead of being mature professionals? 🤔 I’m currently dealing with a group of 40+ adults who are creating unnecessary drama over petty issues, and it’s starting to drive me up the wall! 😩
I want to address the situation in a respectful way and ask them to put aside their personality differences, assume positive intent, and just focus on doing their job. After all, we’re all here to work and then go home, right? 🏢💼
If you have any tips on how to handle this delicate situation, please share them below! And if you’ve ever dealt with office drama like this before, I’d love to hear your stories and insights. Let’s help each other navigate this messy situation together! 💬✨ #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork
Do you have a code of conduct you could refer to? Our company has one that states they are to remain professional during all work interactions, treat others with respect, etc.
If not, can you create one? The only other thing I can think of is to counsel/speak to the drama either individually or as a team
“What is your proposed solution to this problem, and is that proposal something that can be applied universally to everyone in the office who might have similar feelings or behaviors?”
“What does a solution look like to you here?”
If they respond with fire the other person the response is “that’s not going to happen nor is that a reasonable suggestion.”
Sometimes though.. you gotta be a little blunt.
“At this point it’s clear there are fundamental personality differences and that’s fine. You don’t need to like your coworker. You do however, need to interact with them professionally. Going forward, that is the expectation. If you cannot handle that, then we will have a longer conversation about whether or not you remain a good fit with this company”
Welcome to corporate America.
Saving this post because I am having a similar issue at my work right now. Can’t we all just be grown-ups!?
