Hey everyone! 👋 So, I’m at a bit of a crossroads and could really use some advice. I’m looking to boost my income and move towards a better-paid career. I might have the opportunity to take on a paid internship in a different field, but I’m a little unsure about how to navigate it all.
Here’s the deal:
– The internship is only for a couple of months
– There’s no guarantee of a permanent job afterwards
– I’ve been told it’s okay to work over full-time hours in the UK, but I’m not sure about the tax implications
Any tips or insights on how to make the most out of this opportunity while staying on the right side of the law? I’ve done my research, and here’s what I’m thinking could help:
– Consult with a tax advisor to understand the implications of the additional income
– Take advantage of any available annual leave to balance out the workload
– Keep detailed records of hours worked to ensure compliance with regulations
What do you think? Any other ideas or advice to share? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s help each other out on this journey to financial growth. 💪 #CareerAdvice #InternshipTips #UKWorkRegulations
You’re thinking of the Working Time Directive, and you can’t be *forced* to work over 48 hours a week, but you can choose to.
You can work as much as you like.
You didn’t say what either job is so it’s hard to advise. If your full time job is cleaning the council bogs at the park and the internship is IB at goldman then fuck it off in a heartbeat.
