#InternshipStruggles #Underqualified #CareerAdviceNeeded
Hey everyone, I could really use some advice right now. So, here’s the deal – I landed an internship through cold emailing, and I thought I had hit the jackpot. But now, it seems like I might be in over my head.
The person I’m working under keeps making comments about my lack of knowledge in certain areas, and it’s starting to make me feel pretty discouraged. 🤔
I don’t want to let this opportunity slip away, so I’m looking for actionable steps to salvage the situation. Here’s what I’m thinking:
– Request a meeting with your supervisor to discuss your performance and set clear expectations.
– Seek out additional training or resources to improve your skills in areas where you’re lacking.
– Connect with other entry-level employees within the company to gain diverse perspectives and insights.
Do you guys have any other suggestions or similar experiences to share? I could really use some guidance right now. Thanks in advance! 🌟 #CareerDevelopment #InternshipSuccess
Idk. Sounds like a decent internship where they are telling you what to improve. Maybe just ride it out and learn?
If you’re under 22, suck it up. Learn from it.
Suggest improvements and changes you’re making.
Don’t take anything personally and try to learn as much as you can. Try to network with other people, including more entry level people that might have recently been in your shoes.
keep after it. take notes and be a sponge. you have what it takes
I have noticed that oftentimes people get defensive with feedback that is literally just a part of a supervisor’s job. I’m not saying this is the case here. I don’t know. I would just recommend asking yourself if you feel singled out because the behavior is aggressive or if you feel singled out because they are offering any sort of feedback.
Internships are for learning. Just keep doing your best to learn and grow.
If you don’t wanna get fired and get to do more things ,just try to learn on the side as much as you can
I mean what can you do for them? Research, macro aren’t exactly things many employers need on the daily.
That’s something you have to go through. Learn from it and do better when you are in that position.
Wow..what a jerk! Look interns don’t know much. They should be LEARNING.
Interns below grad level aren’t really expected to know a whole lot. It’s a time to get an inside look at a company and make connections. They know you’re clueless and will want to influence you to do things their way and later work for them when you graduate. You get access to high status people in ways regular employees never can. So study your boss like a high stakes exam! Run their errands but don’t expect to contribute to projects. Your job is to experience the industry culture not impact the product.
Just say thank you, I’ll remember that or say I’m always ready to learn as a student. Most leadership are no nonsense and brisk. Dont take it personally!
